We’re excited to be heading along to The Big Community Night Out in Numurkah with the Numurkah Community Learning Centre Inc.

Rural Health Check will be there providing health checks and sharing some simple, practical health information with our local community. Come along, say hello and enjoy a great night celebrating everything our community has to offer!

Broken Creek Connect (BCC) is excited to share more details about our upcoming Big Community Night Out on Friday 18 September in Newman Square, Numurkah!!

Join us for a FREE family-friendly community event, with live performances by The Murks, Toby Brooks Music, Numurkah Ukulele Club and Numurkah Linedancers 🎶 There will also be a free BBQ, with donations welcomed to support BCC projects 💙

Supported by a grant, this event is focused on rural mental wellbeing, resilience and recovery, particularly for those impacted by the grassfires in January 2026. We are therefore thrilled to be supported by CFA, Numurkah Community Learning Centre Inc and Primary Care Connect too ❤️❤️

There’s a certain kind of relief that comes with finally parking the air seeder in the shed at the end of sowing.

The long days, the dust, the breakdowns, the weather watching, the stress of rising costs and trying to get every hectare done… all behind you for now.

Now comes the hard part… waiting, hoping and watching the sky.

Here’s hoping this season brings the gentle soaking rains, the timely follow ups and the kind of year our farming communities deserve.

To everyone who’s just finished sowing:
take a moment to breathe, rest your body, check in on your mates and be proud of what you’ve achieved.

Fingers crossed for a safe, healthy and profitable season ahead.

It’s a tough start, dry ground, tight margins, and grain prices keeping us humble! But if there’s one thing farmers know how to do, it’s back themselves when the odds aren’t exactly friendly.

Every seed going in is a bit of faith in the season ahead. It’s early mornings, long days, and doing what needs to be done, even when it’s not easy.

Here’s hoping for rain at the right time, a kind finish, and a few pleasant surprises along the way.

Until then keep the coffee strong, the gear running, and the sense of humour intact… and don’t forget to check in on your mates.

A quick call, a chat over the ute, or a simple “how you going?” can go a long way. This time of year, can be tough mentally as well as physically, so looking after yourself and each other!
