Beer + Bubs is childbirth education for dads, held at the pub.
This one-night session helps expectant dads feel more confident, prepared and useful when labour and birth begin. Most dads want to support their partner well, but many are not always sure what that role actually looks like when things get real.

Beer + Bubs keeps it practical, relaxed and easy to understand. No awkward classroom vibe. No medical lecture. Just honest, useful information about labour, birth, support, comfort measures and how to stay calm when your partner needs you most.

This session is great for first-time dads, dads who felt underprepared last time, or dads who have attended antenatal classes but still feel unsure about what they are meant to do in the birth room.

We cover:
🍻 What to say, and what not to say, during labour
🍻 How to stay calm and focused
🍻 Practical ways to support your partner through contractions
🍻 Comfort measures that can help during labour
🍻 How to understand birth choices and pain relief options
🍻 How to communicate with midwives and medical staff
🍻 How to advocate for your partner without taking over.

Your host, Lexi Kemp, is a birth doula, mum of two, and a passionate advocate for the role dads and partners can play during birth. Lexi brings practical knowledge, warmth and lived experience, including her own experience of having a hands-on, active birth partner.

Beer + Bubs has been recommended by childbirth educators, midwives and obstetricians across Australia for more than 20 years.

Coming to the Central Coast, Beer + Bubs is a one night session where expecting dads can connect with each other and learn how to support their partner during labour and birth. Nothing awkward, just real conversations.
Unlike traditional antenatal classes, Beer + Bubs takes place at the pub, creating a familiar and informal environment where men can ask questions, have a laugh and learn alongside other dad to be.
Beer + Bubs is not about replacing hospital antenatal classes or partner-based education. It is about adding a dad-focused space where men can better understand their role, prepare for birth, and build confidence before their baby arrives.

Most couples don’t realize they’re unprepared for birth until they’re already in labor.

And at that point, it’s too late to slow down and Google what’s happening.

Birth isn’t just about showing up to the hospital.
It’s about understanding what’s happening in your body, knowing your options in real time, and having a plan that still works when things don’t go as expected.

I see it all the time, women who thought they were prepared because they watched a few videos or read a few articles, but when contractions start, everything changes.

That’s why childbirth education matters.

Not fear-based information.
Not outdated “just do what you’re told” teaching.

But real, practical, evidence-based preparation that helps you feel calm, confident, and involved in your care.

In this class, we cover things like:

Hard pills to swallow: Pregnancy and postpartum edition

Pregnancy and birth don’t just test your body they test the support around you and the information you were given before things got real.

A lot of women assume they’ll be guided through decisions in birth only to realise later that guidance and full education aren’t always the same thing.

At the same time support doesn’t magically appear in the room.
Partners can be present but still unprepared.
And systems can be efficient but still not centred on your experience.

So many women end up in a space where they’re trying to understand what’s happening advocate for themselves and manage everyone else’s reactions all at once.

And afterwards they’re told it was normal.

This isn’t about fear.
It’s about honesty.

Because the more we normalise silence around these gaps the more women are left to piece it together after the
