Funny old world this social media business 😬😂

We’ll happily throw a like or a comment on something from a celebrity we’ve never met, but someone we actually know who’s having a crack at something? Sometimes we just scroll straight past.

And I’ve had this thought pop up here and there over time.

There’s so many everyday people out there trying to build something for themselves. Small businesses, artists, creators, people following a passion, trying to make a living doing something they actually love.

And behind those posts are real people. Families, bills, sacrifices, hopes, dreams and a whole lot of work that most people never see.

I’m one of them.

I’m here trying to build a life where I can spend more time with my family, work on the land, share what I love and hopefully make a difference in a few people’s lives along the way.

And I know there’s plenty of others out there doing their own version of that too.

And look, I’m not saying you have to agree with everything someone puts out. 🤣🤣

But just because something isn’t necessarily for you, doesn’t mean it won’t mean the world to somebody else.

Sometimes sharing someone’s work isn’t about whether YOU need to hear the message, but about helping it find the person who does.

And when you do see someone having a go at something, why not show a little love?

Leave a comment. Share their work with someone who might appreciate it. Tell them you enjoyed what they put out.

It doesn’t cost anything, and sometimes those little things can make a big difference to the person on the other end.

And it’s not even just about social media.

When was the last time we genuinely encouraged someone we know who’s trying to do something a little different? Or told someone we’re proud of what they’re building?

We don’t have to understand someone’s path or want to walk it ourselves to appreciate the fact they’re giving it a go.

Anyway, just something that’s been on my mind.

Maybe next time you see someone you know having a go, give them a bit of encouragement. You never know how much it might mean to them.

Spent the morning clearing out some dead branches, fallen trees and overgrowth around the tent, getting the space ready for our women’s gathering this Thursday.

And as I was working away I found myself thinking about how much this relates to our own lives.

We’ve got so much stuff in the way that we don’t even realise how much it’s blocking out.

Old beliefs, expectations, things we’ve held onto for years, sometimes without even knowing why.

And I feel like we can get so caught up in trying to do more, be more, add more, that we forget sometimes what we actually need is to let some stuff go.

Make a bit of room.

Let some light back in.

And in turn, let a little more of ourselves be seen in the process.

Just a little reflection that came to me while I was out doing some work on the land this morning.

Funny what comes up when you’re just getting on with things. 🤣

A few more watermelon and pumpkin seedlings going into the ground. That’s about 80 pumpkins and about 70 watermelons now! 🌱🍉🎃

Little by little we’re growing more of our own food and learning along the way.

Some things thrive, some don’t and some have surprised us completely. That’s all part of it.

No rushing here. Just planting, experimenting and seeing what the land gives back.

Another little piece of the life we’re building here. 🧡🤠

There’s something about the journey out here.

Leaving the tar road behind, following the dirt track, winding through the trees and crossing the creek.

With every turn, the noise of the outside world feels a little further away.

And by the time you arrive at Keith’s Gate, there’s an invitation to slow down.

To breathe and reconnect.
To simply be.

Because sometimes the journey is just as much a part of the experience as the destination.

Sitting with the fire this morning, I found myself reflecting on presence.

Not just being somewhere physically, but actually being there. Fully.

It’s something I’m conscious of in my own life, particularly as a father, but also something that I’m still working on.

Because the years are moving so quickly, and there’ll come a day when these little moments with our kids are nothing more than memories.

I don’t want to look back wishing I’d given them more of my attention.

I want to know I was there for the moments that mattered.

And sometimes that means simply putting everything else down.

Carol | Doing Life Differently

02/10/2026

Back in 2017 we felt this strong pull toward land.

We didn’t know where.
We didn’t know how.
We definitely didn’t know what the next 7-8 years would bring.

Life happened. Breathwork found me. Ceremony found me. We travelled. We built businesses. We had more kids. The land call came back.

And eventually we found this place.

What’s become really clear since being here is that I spent a long time thinking these were separate parts of my life.

Family.
Land.
Growing food.
Breathwork.
Ceremony.
Community.

They’re not.

It’s all just one thing.

Video 2 of Remembering How to Live is now up on YouTube.

This one is the story behind why we’re here, what we’re trying to build, and why I’m documenting the whole thing as we go.

Go have a watch.

F**k me what a game!!! 💙❤️💙❤️💙🔥🔥🔥

Been a Newcastle Knights supporter my whole life, near 40 years.

I don’t watch the footy anywhere near like I used to these days. Probably the last 5 or 6 years I’ve really started seeing the whole industrial sports machine for what it is a bit more.

Still doesn’t mean I can’t sit down and watch a game or so though.

And last night was a bloody ripper of a game.

Wooden spooners last year.

Pretty much everyone wrote them off this year.

Then they make the finals…

Written off week 1.
Win.

Written off week 2.
Win.

Written off week 3.
Playing Penrith.
Grand final spot on the line.
Go down to 12 men.
Still fkn win 💪

There’s something about this Knights side this year.

They’ve got mongrel and a whole lot of belief.
They remind me of the old school Newcastle teams.
And they just keep finding a way to get the job done.

And there’s a bit of a life lesson buried in there somewhere too.

People are pretty quick to decide what you are based on where you’ve been.

Last year. Your worst patch. You fk ups.
The version of you they remember.

Meanwhile you can already be becoming something completely different. You’ve just gotta keep turning up long enough for everyone else to catch up.

Anyway..

25 years since 2001.

Back in the grand final.

One more.

Up the Knights 💙❤️💙❤️💙⚔️
