Not long ago, we celebrated five years of TA Care with the people who made it what it is: our participants, their families, and our support team.

A few moments we keep replaying: little ones lining up (very patiently) for balloon swords and flowers; the bouncy castle the grown-ups definitely didn't sneak into; long tables full of catch-ups; and mini games full of laughter.

TA Care started with a simple idea: care built on trust and real connection. Seeing everyone together last week felt like that idea has grown into a community.

From October 2026, this new program starts rolling out for children ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ– with ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฆ๐จ๐๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž developmental delay or autism.

๐Ÿ“ŒIf your child has higher or more complex support needs, nothing changes - they stay on the NDIS as usual.

๐Ÿ“ŒAlready on a NDIS plan? ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐  ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ฒ for you either. You'll keep your current plan until the national switch-over on 1 January 2028, when eligibility is reassessed under today's rules.

โ–ถ If you (or someone you support) have a combined budget of $215,030 or more across Daily Life, Home & Living, and Community Participation, and receive 24-hour funded supports, that's the moment things work differently - a flat cut could leave a real gap, even though your needs haven't changed.

โ€ผ๏ธHere's the part that catches people out: this doesn't get fixed automatically. You (or your nominee) have 90 days from when the reduction is applied to your plan to apply for a funding variation - the NDIA can't start this for you. From there, it's a two-step review:
โ–ถup to 21 days for the NDIA to confirm you're eligible for this pathway,
โ–ถthen up to another 21 days to decide the variation itself - so it can take up to 6 weeks to get an answer.

Long before the first guest walked in on Friday, our team was already here - turning an empty warehouse into somewhere worth celebrating five years in.

On Friday 2 October, we celebrated TA Care's 5th birthday with full of love and laughter. Our Participant Appreciation Day brought our team, our participants, and our families together for an afternoon of pass-the-parcel prizes, balloon twisting, and far too many good moments to fit into one post.
