šŸ’› SIL & SDA Providers — what would help you feel comfortable partnering with us?
We know that trusting a new program isn’t always easy. That’s why, at TwoHearts, we’re committed to being open, transparent, and happy to share our policies, agreements, and how the program actually works — before you decide whether it’s right for you.
The TwoHearts Crisis Response Program is our flagship program and is designed to support people who urgently need a safe place to stay during a crisis. One important part of the program is our housing database, which includes SIL, SDA, and other housing providers who may have a property available from time to time.
When a placement request comes in:

Housing providers are notified and can choose to accept or decline
If a request is accepted, TwoHearts manages the placement, including coordination, risk screening, and payment administration
Providers support the placement by providing access to the property and entry condition documentation
Payment arrangements are agreed and clearly communicated before the placement begins

The program is not just for NDIS participants. We work with providers and clients to make sure placements are suitable and that providers are paid fairly and transparently for the use of their property.
If you’d like to chat, review our documents, or simply catch up over a coffee to learn more, we’d love to hear from you.

ā€œUnlearning Violence. Learning Love.ā€
This isn’t an easy read.
It’s raw. It’s honest. And it might be confronting.

It’s my story—growing up around violence, becoming part of it, and making the choice to change.

No excuses. No sugar-coating.
If you’ve ever struggled with anger…
If relationships have been hard…

If you’ve questioned how you give or receive love…
This is for you.

And if you’re in a situation where you’re being hurt, hear this clearly:
You deserve better.
This isn’t about overnight change.

It’s about accountability, hard choices, and doing the work—every day, over years.

Let’s start having more honest conversations.

Because silence only keeps the cycle going.

This highlights something I’ve been saying for years: if you don’t know, you don’t know.

I don’t believe anyone deliberately put Quinn in harm’s way. I genuinely think the provider believed they were doing the safest and most appropriate thing at the time. But good intentions don’t always lead to good outcomes when people don’t have the knowledge, training, or support they need.

This is exactly why crisis intervention training is so important. It gives workers the tools to recognise risk, respond appropriately, and make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.

Would things have been different? Maybe. Maybe not. None of us can answer that. But what we can do is learn from cases like this and ensure frontline workers are better equipped to support people in crisis.

If you don’t know, you don’t know. That’s why training matters.

Ever wonder what a recovery coach does on the weekend? Maybe he reads a book or watches a movie. Nah, I’m just as weird as y’all. 🤣

🌟 Join the Founding Board of TwoHearts Community Foundation 🌟

We are currently seeking passionate individuals with lived experience to join the founding board of the TwoHearts Community Foundation.

We believe some of the most valuable insights come from people who have walked the journey themselves. Whether your lived experience relates to mental health, disability, homelessness, domestic violence, recovery, or navigating complex support systems, your voice deserves a seat at the table.

As a board member, you will help guide the direction of the Foundation, contribute to important decisions, and ensure the voices of those with lived experience remain at the heart of everything we do.

If you are interested in becoming a board member, please complete our Expression of Interest form:
https://form.jotform.com/261436980121858

Want to learn more before making a decision?

We have created an information pack outlining the Foundation, our vision, upcoming projects, and what being a board member involves. You can access that information here:

To say I’m proud is an understatement! One of our incredible participants has taken home Silver at the National Blind Bowlers Competition in his category. 🄈

Before supporting this beautiful man, I had no idea blind bowls even existed, let alone how massive and competitive the sport is across Australia.

Now we are all crossing our fingers and toes for Keith to be selected to represent Australia at one of the biggest competitions of the decade. šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ

Keith, we are so proud of you and look forward to supporting you throughout your journey.

Cheers,
Joe

Hey everyone! We thought it was time to properly introduce ourselves to all the new faces joining our page ā¤ļø

We’re Joe and Chloe — husband and wife, parents to three amazing kids, and the people behind TwoHearts Queensland.

At the core of what we do is supporting people living with complex mental health challenges and behaviours of concern through Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching.

One thing that makes us a little different is that we intentionally keep our capacity smaller than many larger providers. This allows us to stay hands-on, build genuine relationships, and provide more personalised support to the people and families we work alongside.

šŸ–¤ Chloe works exclusively with children under 16 and their families and is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education through Sunshine Coast University.

ā¤ļø Joe Horvat focuses on mental health, complex behaviours, crisis response, and recovery-focused work. Using both lived experience and extensive crisis intervention knowledge, Joe supports individuals navigating highly complex situations.

Alongside TwoHearts Queensland, we also have a few side projects keeping us busy:

šŸ¤ TwoHearts Community Foundation
Currently in the registration process and overseeing our community-focused initiatives.

šŸ  Crisis Response Program
Already live across Queensland, supporting urgent placements, crisis coordination, risk management, and stabilisation support. More details on the official hard launch are coming soon.

šŸŽ“ Crisis Response Training
Practical online and in-person training focused on crisis response, de-escalation, communication, and understanding behaviours.

šŸŽ™ļø The Ripple Effect Podcast
The Ripple Effect – The Australian Su***de Story shines a light on Australia’s su***de crisis through honest conversations with front-line workers, families, and people with lived experience to help make the conversation around su***de and mental health less taboo.

If you’d like to follow along with our journey, projects, and podcast, you can find everything here:

Thanks for being here and supporting what we’re building.

The Royal Commission is listening.

For those who may not be aware, I recently sent a letter to Commissioner the Hon Virginia Bell AC outlining my concerns regarding the Interim Report of the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.

I believe there is a major piece missing from the conversation — accountability. In particular, accountability surrounding the horrific events that took place in Bondi on 14 December and the failures that may have contributed to it happening.

Recent media coverage surrounding the inquiry has suggested that government agencies did in fact let the Jewish community down through:

• Failures to properly share information between agencies
• Missed opportunities where shared intelligence may have prevented the incident
• A lack of sufficient police presence and resourcing on the day

As I stated in my letter, this event should never have happened.

Whether the responsibility lies with NSW Police, ASIO, the AFP, or multiple agencies, something clearly needs to change. The government and its agencies must be held accountable when systems fail communities.

The Jewish community — and all Australians — deserve transparency, accountability, and real action moving forward.

Vacant houses can change lives ā¤ļø

TwoHearts is currently looking to connect with SIL providers who have vacant properties, or properties becoming available soon, to work alongside our Crisis Response Programme.

Our programme supports people and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives by helping connect them with accommodation, supports, and community services when they need it most.

We know vacancies can be stressful for providers, and we believe working together can create better outcomes for everyone involved.

If your organisation has current or upcoming vacancies and would like to learn more, please reach out to us.

Please feel free to share this post with other SIL providers who may be interested.
