Everyone wants to know what I’m feeling when I’m taking their pulse ..
Pulse taking is a traditional diagnostic tool used in East Asian medicine to assess the body’s internal state and overall balance.
Each pulse position is traditionally associated with different organ systems. Rather than looking for disease, I’m assessing patterns of balance and imbalance—where the body’s resources are strong, where they’re under strain, and how well energy is flowing.
I often think of it as listening to the body’s story through the pulse: identifying where stress may be having the greatest impact, what’s moving freely, and where things may be feeling stuck. When combined with your symptoms, health history and tongue assessment, it helps build a picture of the underlying pattern guiding your treatment.
