Why I do what I do.
After more than 25 years in the community sector, one thing has never changed—everyone deserves the opportunity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Whether I've been working in mental health, aged care, or now leading an NDIS provider, I've seen firsthand how the right support can transform not only the life of a participant but also the lives of their families.
This short video captures what our work is really about.
It's about:
đź’™ Building confidence.
đź’™ Creating opportunities.
đź’™ Encouraging independence.
đź’™ Celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small.
đź’™ Treating every person with dignity, respect, and choice.
In an industry focused on funding, compliance, and paperwork, it's important to remember that at the heart of everything we do is people.
I'm incredibly proud of the dedicated support workers, managers, and professionals who show up every day with compassion, patience, and commitment to making a genuine difference.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission of delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
Together, we're helping people build the lives they choose.

What a fantastic day of learning, teamwork, and hands-on practice with our amazing staff! đź’™
Today we focused on safe manual handling techniques, including: âś… Using a hoist safely and confidently âś… Sara Stedy transfers âś… Safe transfer techniques âś… Reducing risks for both participants and support workers âś… Promoting dignity, independence, and person-centred support
There were plenty of laughs along the way as staff got involved in practical activities and worked together to build their skills and confidence. Training like this helps ensure we continue to provide safe, high-quality support while creating positive outcomes for the people we support.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and made the day both educational and enjoyable! 👏

Dear Participants, Families, Nominees, and Representatives,

As a Registered NDIS Provider, My Family Support Services is committed to delivering high-quality supports that align with the NDIS Practice Standards and the recent changes to the NDIS framework.

To ensure we continue providing supports that are meaningful, compliant, and focused on participant outcomes, we are strengthening our processes across all services.

Our support staff are currently undertaking additional training and guidance to ensure they are:

Supporting participants in line with their individual NDIS goals.
Focusing on skill development, independence, and community participation.
Recording detailed progress notes that accurately reflect the supports provided.
Documenting outcomes, achievements, challenges, and progress towards goals.
Identifying what strategies are working well and where adjustments may be required.
Ensuring supports remain participant-centred and outcome-focused.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, our team will also continue to work collaboratively with participants, families, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure supports are tailored to individual needs and aspirations.

You may notice support workers discussing goals more regularly during shifts and documenting progress in greater detail. This is part of ensuring that the supports you receive demonstrate value, promote independence, and align with current NDIS requirements.

We appreciate your ongoing support and cooperation as we continue to enhance our services and maintain the highest standards of care and support.

Our role goes far beyond providing day-to-day support to participants.

We work collaboratively with Support Coordinators, families, allied health professionals, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure each participant is progressing towards their goals and receiving the right supports at the right time.

Our team provides:
âś… Regular communication with stakeholders
âś… Monthly progress reports outlining achievements, challenges, and outcomes
âś… Documentation of strategies that have been successful and those that have not
âś… Goal-focused support and evidence of participant progress
âś… Ongoing review and adjustment of support approaches to meet individual needs
âś… Quarterly clinical reports completed by our nursing team to support health and clinical oversight

We believe quality support is about more than just being present. It's about understanding each participant's goals, measuring progress, identifying barriers, and working together to create meaningful outcomes.

By maintaining strong communication and detailed reporting, we help ensure participants, families, coordinators, and funding bodies have a clear picture of the supports being provided and the progress being made.

Because great support isn't just about what happens today—it's about building a pathway towards tomorrow.

📢 Recent NDIS Update – What You Need to Know

There’s been a lot of talk lately about possible changes to the NDIS, and understandably, it’s causing some concerns in our community.
Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s being shared right now:
🔹 Right now:
Not much is changing immediately. Many ideas are being discussed, but there are no clear timelines or confirmed details yet.
🔹 Funding & plans:
Future changes may include how plan rollovers work, with unused funds potentially not carrying over. This is expected around mid-2026 (not confirmed).
🔹 Assessments:
From July 2027, new assessment tools may be introduced — but for now, continue as normal with current reports and assessments.
🔹 SIL & supports:
Some changes may come in the future (like provider requirements), but nothing immediate. If changes happen, support will be provided to transition smoothly.
🔹 Community access funding:
There’s a possibility of reductions from October 2026, but again, nothing confirmed yet.

🔹 Big takeaway:
âś… No major changes right now
âś… Plenty of time to prepare
âś… Keep your reports and evidence up to date
✅ Don’t rely on social media rumours

If you’re feeling unsure or worried, please reach out to us — that’s what we’re here for . Our team will meet on Monday to discuss these changes and how we can best navigate these for our clients and their families.
We’ll keep you informed every step of the way 🤝
