We’re not anti medication. Doxycycline can be helpful in certain acute situations - but it’s important to understand what it also impacts along the way.

Longer-term or repeated antibiotic use can interfere with the absorption and production of nutrients that are essential for skin barrier integrity, immune regulation and repair. And when these nutrients run low, we often see slower healing, increased inflammation, and more reactive skin.

This is why we always look beyond the prescription.

Supporting nutrient status, gut health and immune function alongside acne treatment helps protect the skin - not just suppress symptoms.

🌼 If you’re not testing you’re guessing
🌼 Dairy & Blood Sugar Regulation NEED to be addressed simultaneously
🌼 You can’t be chopping and changing your skincare
🌼 A skin cell cycle is 35-45 days for someone aged over 30, you need to allow time for your skin to change
🌼 Your skin is the last place to show somethings not quite right internally. For something to change in your skin you MUST be open to changing something in your day to day.

Once we find the drivers of whats causing your breakouts, it’s then a matter of coaching you through how to make these changes feel sustainable!

With Orenda’s 6th Birthday coming up, it’s the perfect time to reflect on just a couple of the incredible transformations we’ve seen in our clients over the years

Of course when you’re working with clients with a skin condition, you’re not just treating the surface.. each one of these clients committed to the journey of working on their internals and assessing/treating their:

Your can get PLENTY of readily available foods from woolies that work on the underlying areas that are VITAL when it comes to healing your skin through your gut:
- Foods to support the mucosal lining and reduce inflammation
- Foods to support the growth of beneficial bacteria within the gut and to help your good gut bugs produce their anti-inflammatory mediators

Six years of treating skin has taught me that clear skin is rarely about finding the one missing supplement or treatment

It's about understanding the person sitting in front of you.

Their history.
Their stress load.
Their relationship with food.
Their routines.
Their beliefs about their skin.
And the internal factors that often go unseen.

These lessons have shaped not only how I practise as a skin specialising Naturopath, but also why I created our face to face event - Beneath The Surface.

This event is designed for skin therapists, dermal clinicians and practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of the internal drivers influencing skin conditions, and feel more confident connecting those pieces together for their clients.

We'll be exploring topics including:

• Hormones and acne
• Gut health and skin function
• Stress physiology and inflammatory skin conditions
• Supporting clients beyond the treatment room
• Creating truly individualised treatment strategies

Hands up if you’ve been victimised by the pill, doxycycline or roaccutane? 🙌🏼

We all know if you’re walking into the GP clinic with a goal to chat about your acne, you’re more than likely going to be handed a script for one of these or a referral to a dermatologist to prescribe.. 

For the time being whilst you’re on it, absolutely your skin will clear (majority of the time)

But, the root cause isn’t being addressed and we know that when acne begins to show it’s face on the surface - that there’s been an underlying driver brewing for a long time to get to that point! 

So, if you haven’t addressed your:
- Nutritional status
- Blood sugar regulation
