Pain is real. Help is available.
This National Pain Week (26–31 July), we're recognising the 3.4 million Australians living with chronic pain and helping raise awareness of a condition that is often invisible, misunderstood and life-changing.
For many people, chronic pain affects far more than physical comfort. It can impact daily routines, work, sleep, relationships, leisure activities and participation in the occupations that give life meaning.
Occupational therapists play an important role in supporting people living with chronic pain. Working alongside individuals and multidisciplinary teams, OTs help people develop practical strategies to manage symptoms, adapt daily activities, conserve energy, build confidence and continue participating in the activities that matter most.
Let’s continue to raise awareness, reduce stigma and recognise that while pain may be invisible, its impact is very real.
