Acne scarring is more complex than it may appear.

True scars form when deeper inflammation disrupts the skin’s normal healing process, resulting in either a loss of collagen and depressed scarring, or less commonly, excess tissue and raised scarring.

Ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars each have a different structure, depth and relationship with the tissue beneath the skin. Many people also have a combination of scar types, which is why there is no single treatment that suits every case.

At Forme, we assess the type of scarring, the presence of tethering, your skin type and whether active acne is controlled before discussing options. Depending on your skin, a personalised plan may include SkinPen, Tixel, or professional peels.
