She Didn’t Stop Caring About Herself.
She Just Got Used To Coming Last.
It happened so slowly she barely noticed.
A little less time for herself.
A little more time for everyone else.
Work.
Family.
Kids.
Partners.
Parents.
Appointments.
Responsibilities.
Life.
And because she’s capable, she carried it all.
Until one day she looked up and realised something uncomfortable:
Everyone else’s needs had become non-negotiable.
Hers had become optional.
So she kept postponing herself.
“I’ll start when things settle down.”
“I’ll focus on me after this busy period.”
“Once everyone else is okay, then I’ll have time.”
But life doesn’t really work like that.
There’s always another deadline.
Another birthday.
Another bill.
Another school event.
Another reason to wait.
And while she was busy taking care of everyone else…
Her energy slipped.
Her confidence faded.
Her body changed.
And somewhere along the way, she stopped feeling like herself.
Not because she didn’t care.
Because she’d spent years proving she cared about everyone else.
The problem is that self-sacrifice sounds noble.
Until it starts costing us our health.
Our confidence.
Our happiness.
Our quality of life.
Because the truth most people never hear is this:
The people who need us most don’t need us exhausted.
They don’t need us burned out.
They don’t need what’s left over.
They need us healthy.
Strong.
Present.
Energised.
Alive.
That’s why prioritising yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s responsibility.
Because when we become stronger, healthier and happier…
Everyone around us benefits too.

Not someday.
Now.
