We have two beautiful daughters who are the reason behind our passion for good health and quality of life. Our lives were transformed after our children were born and we began to question everything we were consuming and using on our bodies and in our home. Both having studied a science degree meant we were able to somewhat decipher the ingredients labels on products which left us very concerned about the chemical cocktails we were exposed to on a daily basis. From there grew my passion to supply my family with quality and affordable products that nourish the body and provide peace of mind as a mother. I read endlessly, from medical journals to books to credible web pages and it is this thirst for information that has brought us to where we are. Organic Instinct was established in response to numerous inquiries by many friends and families who desired to make a health change. It is the encouragement of friends and family that has inspired us to begin this new business with so much love and enthusiasm. Do you know what’s on your fruit and veg?

Australia’s Residue Report 2026 by Pesticide Action Australia tested 78 samples of 13 everyday fruits and vegetables from Coles, Woolworths and Aldi.

Here is what the lab results showed:
201 pesticide residues from 54 different pesticides.
44% of samples contained PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals”.
56% carried at least one pesticide not approved in the EU.
One Sydney strawberry sample had a fungicide at nearly 10x the legal limit.

Capsicum, grapes and strawberries topped the list.

The good news is that a proper wash can help reduce surface residues.

I read the back of your sunscreen so you don’t have to.

Two ingredients worth knowing about: homosalate and oxybenzone.

The TGA has recommended tighter restrictions on both, to reduce how much can be used in a product.
⚠️ Homosalate: a new study found high homosalate levels in pooled samples from Australian children, particularly in Queensland.
⚠️ Oxybenzone: the TGA found it may affect the hormone system, and at the maximum permitted amount on the whole body, its safety margin fell below the TGA’s benchmark for long-term use.

Chemical filters like Homosalate and Oxybenzone work by absorbing UV rays. Studies show they can also be absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream, and lab research suggests they may have weak hormone-like activity. Regulators are taking a closer look, and some people prefer to switch while the science catches up.
Enter physical (mineral) sunscreens. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sit on top of the skin and reflect UV, with minimal absorption.

We get pitched products all the time.

Today, a rep came in promoting something new and it didn’t meet our low tox criteria.
So we said no thanks.
Simple as that.
