The wings of this hummingbird were created using her daughter’s hand print.
I always enjoy meeting ideas like this, ones I would never have come up with on my own.
That is one of the things I love about tattooing.
Not just drawing, more like being part of someone’s story for a moment. 💕

After finishing the dragon on his side, we’ve now started working on his back.

I initially considered Yama or the Buddha, but in Southeast Asian Buddhist cultures such as Vietnam, Thailand or Sri Lanka, tattooing the Buddha or other sacred figures can be seen as sensitive or disrespectful.
In contrast, in East Asian countries like Korea, there is generally a more conservative view on tattoos overall, but less cultural resistance specifically toward depicting the Buddha in tattoo form.

As my client comes from a Vietnamese cultural background, we chose a foo dog, a guardian figure that protects the Buddha, as the main motif.

The foo dog is not actually a dog, but a lion. 🦁
It is a symbol of protection, believed to ward off misfortune and guard people and property. It is also a symbol of good luck.

I hope protection and good fortune will be with Richard, who trusted me with this large piece.

If you’re considering a Buddhist or symbolic piece, feel free to reach out via the link in bio.

Work in progress on this black and grey Dancheong piece for I usually build these patterns in colour, so translating it into black and grey creates a very different mood and texture.

This session took around 6 hours. One more session to go before it is complete.

Dancheong is traditionally known for its layered detail and rhythm. Even without colour, the structure of the pattern carries the movement. I am excited to see how it settles once healed and finished.

2 years healed.
This tiny dancheong tattoo on the jaw has held up beautifully with NO TOUCH UPS at all.
Sunscreen is a must for keeping colour tattoos vibrant, especially on the face.

Always grateful to for trusting my experimental pieces.
We’ve recently started extending her chest piece too and I can’t wait to finish it.

Please keep comments respectful. Everyone has different tastes.

Sunflower colour realism tattoo on the forearm.

Colour realism with complex layering takes time.
Rushing this style into a single session can risk overworking the skin.
Splitting the process across multiple sessions allows finer detail, richer colour, and more stable long term results.

Custom tattoo. One client per day.
Tattooed in Melbourne.

If you can spot it, it’s not a good cover up.

Total tattoo time 35 hours.
This piece was completed over multiple sessions.

This piece took time not only because of size, but because of the amount of colour and fine detail involved.
With so many colours, each section needs clean separation and precision, which makes the process longer and the sessions heavier.

Sessions tend to be long, and proper healing time between them is essential for results like this.

Thank you always for trusting me with your skin and your story.
I understand how much this work can mean in your life, and I never take that lightly.
I will always do my best.

Fine line pattern on the hand.

Built with lines and dots to create rhythm.
It is a small piece, but because of the placement and density, it took longer than it looks.
