❔When is surgery considered for a dislocated shoulder?
Most first-time shoulder dislocations can be treated without surgery. However, surgery may be considered if:
• The shoulder keeps dislocating or feels unstable
• There is damage to the labrum, ligaments or bone
• You’re at higher risk of recurrent dislocation, particularly if you’re young and active
• Non-surgical treatment hasn’t improved your symptoms
✨The right treatment depends on your individual injury, age, activity level and the extent of any damage.
