There is NO fear in love.
Hmmm... this is one of the most beautiful and inspiring verses to try and live out.
What does fear have to do with love you might ask?
I did.
Perfect love. God's love is the healthiest, safest, most satisfying kind of love. Because our relationship comes from nothing I've done, or will do..but because of who He is.
He loves us based on His love for us. It's so safe that fear doesn't exist there in that space.
We can bring our worst, our cranky, our upset, our sadness and pain.
God listens intently, lovingly-scoops us up and tends to our wounds. He whispers words of comfort, healing and hope.
And we leave the conversation lighter.
This is love without fear. Perfect love.
This kind of love-love given, even when undeserved is humbling as I ponder how I love others in my world.
How well do I love others?
Hmm..I thought I did ok.
What if I don't like don't choices they make?
Hmm... that's hard
What if they don't return my love?
That's harder sometimes.
What if they've hurt my heart in the past?
Yep, that's rough too.
Are my motives in loving, always pure and selfless?
No.
Sometimes I have expectations of love, unconscious strings and conditions.
Do I sometimes want my own way in love?
yes...
But
Are there higher ways to love in life?
Yes.
Is there hope for loving one another with perfect love?
Absolutely!
Imagine complete safety, health, selflessness and fearless love in relationship, and in loving one another.
Yes, it's an inspiring verse for the heart.
One that we can use as a yardstick,a desire, a goal, as we love those around us.
