There was probably a version of you who knew exactly how everyone else was feeling.
You knew when Mum was upset.
You knew when Dad was stressed.
You knew when your siblings were about to fight.
You could feel the tension before anyone said a word.
So you learned to respond.
Maybe you made people laugh.
Maybe you stepped in.
Maybe you stayed quiet.
Maybe you became the person who could handle everything.
Those responses made sense at the time.
But years later, they can become patterns.
You may still feel responsible for your partner's mood.
You may struggle to say no.
You may take on everyone's problems.
Or you may find it hard to tell people what you actually need.
Sometimes what looks like "just who I am" has a much older story behind it.
I explore that story in my latest article about the Peacemaker, the Fixer and the Invisible One.
