Wow….another amazing truth testimony …
TW: suicidal thoughts, alcohol use, self-harm, disordered eating
She bought a box looking for a wellness change. She had no idea it would become the first step toward changing her life.
In August 2023, she didn’t want to live anymore. She had a plan. She was a mess.
When you look at the picture on the left, you might notice the weight or inflammation.
But look closer.
The posture.
The smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
The dullness.
The sparkle was gone.
There was so much pain behind that picture that nobody could see.
Wine had become an escape. There were empty bottles hidden at the bottom of the recycling bin so they wouldn’t clink. There were lies she told everyone around her—and even more lies she told herself.
Eventually, she decided she wanted to lose a little weight.
Then, in early 2025, she began what would become a true wellness journey.
She bought a box.
At first, it was about feeling better and taking better care of her body.
Then she entered a body-balancing challenge.
She decided to train for a 10K.
The bottle of wine before a run became a glass.
Then a white wine spritzer.
Eventually, the drinking abated.
But the thinking hadn’t.
And THAT is where the deeper work began.
Therapy.
AA.
Al-Anon.
Adult Children of Alcoholics.
Learning to stop hiding.
Learning to say, “I’m lying to myself. I am not okay. I’m a mess today.”
And learning that she didn’t have to disappear, shrink herself, or numb what she was feeling.
Today, she is 290 days sober.
Yes, the woman on the right has lost inflammation.
Yes, she has lost 35 pounds.
But THAT is not the biggest transformation in these two pictures.
She gained her life back.
The posture is different.
The sparkle is back in her eyes.
She is finally learning to give herself the same love, patience, and care she spent her life giving everyone else.
And it all started because one day, she decided to do something for HERSELF.
She bought a box looking for a wellness change.
That box didn’t do the deeper work for her.
But it became one step in a journey that helped lead her back to herself.
This is why I will always say wellness is about SO much more than a number on the scale.
Sometimes the greatest transformation is simply being able to look in the mirror and say:
I’m still here.
I’m becoming.
And I know I’m worth the work. 💚
