I got rid of the rust effect on the knobby bits. It detracted too much from the overall concept and drew the eye away from the bigger picture. Im very happy with the result. Love this sculpture

Today was the last offical day at centralcoastsculptureschool for the term. It is winter holidays wink wink… I concentrated on getting the wedge mount painted. I will duck out one day next week and and seal the piece. On the final stretch. So excited to see the finished…

I got sidetracked this week with this and that BUT finally remembered to send off my Incognito Art Show entries on Wednesday. I expressed posted them just to be sure they made the deadline!

Can’t wait to checkout all the entries and find my pic for this year!

I hope everyone else has bookmarked their favourites and are counting down the deadline to purchase their choices.

Such a fabulous collaboration between Artists to support this great initiative 😊

I am back at the painting and just relearning a big lesson I had forgotten… that’s is…

‘DON’T GIVE UP’

Because you are only one stroke of paint away from standing up and dancing with your dogs because it has suddenly all come together!

I was getting a little bit frustrated and stuck… so I got and walked away. Ate some cake. Then ate some more cake and then a punnet of strawberries. Then sat back down. I thought I was going to stop for the day until I accidentally dropped the brush and hey presto… a winner 😊

God I LOVE being an artist! 🧑‍🎨

Enjoy your day

“WHETHER YOU SUCCEED OR NOT IS IRRELEVANT, THERE IS NO SUCH THING.
MAKING YOUR UNKNOWN KNOWN IS
THE IMPORTANT THING.”
Georgia Q’Keeffe

That is a powerful reminder from one of the most fiercely independent artists in history. Georgia O’Keeffe spent her life capturing the world exactly how she saw it, ignoring the critics who tried to label or categorize her work.

I went back out today to do another coat of the active ingredient… this has happened overnight. I am going to sit with this for tonight and decide if I will do another coat on the copper. Bunnings Tuggerah had sold out of the patina liquid so it would mean a trip to Gosford. I am liking the result. But maybe keen to do another… the copper highlights give it another dimension… just not sure if it is one I want…

The Japanese artist and poet Gozo Yoshimasu, 87, has been awarded the inaugural £200,000 Serpentine x Flag Art Foundation Prize, the largest contemporary art prize in the UK. Yoshimasu will also stage a solo exhibition at London’s Serpentine North gallery in autumn 2027 followed by a presentation at the Flag Art Foundation, a non-profit space located in Manhattan, in spring 2028.

This second video is of the rust painted part. I will put another layer on tomorrow and then by Friday I will have something to work with.
So exciting.

The result is all out of my hands now. It is science that is controlling the result! Stay tuned!
