I'm Renee Baker — Melbourne-based romantasy writer, full-time tattooist, and mum of two. When I’m not in the studio, I’m building worlds filled with dragons, trials, political intrigue, and romance that hurts in the best possible way.

I’m currently finishing my fourth draft and preparing for beta reads on my debut series set in the realm of Aureun — a multi-POV romantasy with high stakes, layered relationship dynamics, magic, mystery, and just the right amount of spice.

My goal is to write trilogy-vibe stories with dangerous choices, slow burns, and characters forced to fight for love, power, and survival.

Sometimes you put a book down and take a break from it. I did over December and January. Now I'm rewriting the entire book in Draft 4 as first person.
Sometimes you have to make big changes to improve and continue to grow. ✨️

I begun my writing journey this year and I can say with confidence, it has transformed how I think and feel about reading fantasy romance immensely.
As I'm working through Draft 3, I'm onto my third short course in writing, my confidence is growing and the imposter syndrome is becoming less.
I can't wait for this round of edits is done, it's essentially a rewrite since learning more about character development, sub-plot & structure.
I'm really enjoying the level of difficulty and concentration it's taken this time round, forcing myself to slow down and really think through each scene.
2026 will be a huge year for me if I can continue at this pace, and I'm already building book 2 mentally.

Last night was incredible. My incredible husband organised an intimate dinner party hosted by .jolly
The courses were clever and refined, absolutely blew us all away. Thank you Zac for your amazing skills and wonderful company.
I'm so grateful for Michael, he truely is the most romantic and thoughtful man. He organised this surprise and everything was so perfect.
We experienced a beautiful moment where my best friend Hannah read the opening pages of my third draft. This moment in time is forever burned into my mind. Incredible. 🩷
