PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS. ๐ฟ
As of May 2026, the condition previously known as Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is now recognised as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).
Why the change?
Because this condition is about so much more that the name describes.
The new name better reflects the true nature of the condition โ one that impacts:
โจ hormones
โจ metabolism
โจ insulin regulation
โจ inflammation
โจ skin health
โจ mental health
โจ fertility & reproductive health
For many women, the previous name led to confusion, delayed diagnosis, and feeling dismissed when symptoms extended far beyond the ovaries.
PMOS acknowledges the full-body picture. ๐ค
In clinic, I support women by looking beyond symptom management alone and focusing on the foundations that can influence hormonal and metabolic health:
โข blood sugar balance
โข protein & fibre intake
โข nervous system support
โข inflammation reduction
โข gut health
โข movement & recovery
โข sleep & stress management
โข targeted nutritional support where needed
Every womanโs experience is different, which is why support should be personalised, realistic, and sustainable โ not just โlose weight and come back.โ
This name change is a huge step forward in womenโs health awareness, education, and care. ๐ฟ
