The Longest Night of the year is nearly upon us here in Australia, her cloak of darkness enfolding these Southern Lands in a cool embrace as she holds the Sun deep in her belly.
As the heat and light of the Sun god slumbers in the underworld within her womb recovering his strength, the goddess is both the mother and the crone. She is protectress, guide, seer, wisdom keeper and creatress.
And as the light and warmth of fire calls us together in contemplation and celebration at this potent point of the year, the reminder is to also tend our own internal flame as we as honour the journey of the Sun on the shortest day.
