Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here and I wanted to let you know what’s been happening. In December 2020 after experiencing burnout and being diagnosed with PTSD, I had a stroke. I was lucky to recover without any deficits, but the experience really shook me and I knew I had to change the way I worked.
I retired from clinical practice and spent the next four years researching why we as health professionals and carers often overwork, don’t take time for our own self-care and push ourselves beyond healthy limits.
Hoping to prevent others from travelling a similar journey, I wrote a comprehensive, evidence-based workbook and developed an online course and in person workshop which shares what I learnt from my research and personal experience.
Called Carer Fatigue and Burnout - Prevention and Recovery Through Radical Selfcare - the course is now available for health, support, welfare, aged-care, disability and community workers, teachers, child-care workers, parents and all unpaid carers of family members.
Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive with participants saying they feel seen, heard and valued and can understand what is happening in their bodies and particularly their nervous systems and know how to implement easy, daily micro-strategies to stay healthy.
If you would like to know more, please visit my website:

which has a link to the online course
and follow my new FB page Thrive Positive Psychology

I’ll be posting information and strategies there to help all carers to keep doing the amazing work they do in a healthy, sustainable way. Please let me know if there is something in particular that you feel could be helpful to you and thank you for your ongoing support. Tess
