🧠 Neurodivergence, Sensory Differences & Bowen Therapy
Every nervous system is unique.
For neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, anxiety, or heightened nervous system sensitivity, touch can be experienced very differently. What feels like gentle pressure to one person may feel overwhelming to another.
At Bowen Alive, treatments are tailored to the individual in front of me.
This may mean:
✨ Using lighter or firmer Bowen moves depending on sensory preferences
✨ Allowing extra processing time between moves
✨ Reducing environmental stimuli where possible
✨ Adjusting communication styles
✨ Creating a treatment experience that feels safe, predictable and comfortable
Bowen Therapy works by communicating with the nervous system, so understanding how a person experiences touch and sensory input is an important part of treatment.
There is no “correct” way to experience a Bowen session. Whether you prefer very light pressure, firmer contact, minimal conversation, or more explanation throughout the treatment, your session can be adapted to suit your needs.
A calm, regulated nervous system starts with feeling comfortable, heard and respected.
