Still "doing everything right" and still blocked? Constipation isn't one-size-fits-all — and that's the whole reason the generic advice keeps letting you down.

There are a handful of distinct patterns, and each one points to a different underlying driver. Some are about slow transit. Some are about actually getting stool OUT (hello, pelvic floor). And some are about the terrain — your microbes, your bile, your nervous system.

Swipe through and see which one sounds like you 👉 Then remember: you can be a blend, and your pattern can change as things improve. The point isn't the label — it's knowing which lever to pull.

If you're not sure which is you (or you've got more than one going on), that's exactly the detective work I do with clients. Comment GUTCALL and I'll send you the link to book a free Strategy Session (or DM me anytime).

This is general information, not personal health advice — always check in with your GP for anything persistent or new.

"Just stop snacking" is a description of the result you want, handed back to you as an instruction.

It tells you nothing about why the snack is there.

If you were under-fuelled at lunch, stopping the snack just makes dinner worse.

If you're exhausted, stopping the snack doesn't make you less tired.

And if it's the one thing in your day that belongs to you, stopping it only takes it away.

Work out what the snack is doing first. Then you'll know what to put in its place.

What is your snack actually doing? Have a guess in the comments. Most people know once they stop and ask.

Every craving I see comes from one of four places.

One. You're hungry. Properly hungry, because you were under-fuelled earlier in the day.

Two. You're tired.

Three. It's a habit attached to a cue. The kettle. The car. The end of the working day.

Four. The food is doing a job. Relief, reward, a small pocket of something that's yours.

Only the first one is solved by eating. The other three are solved earlier in the day, or somewhere else entirely.

So next time one lands, before you decide anything, just ask which of the four it is.

Which of the four is yours? I read every comment.

Three things women say to me right before they book, and what I actually tell them.

"I have tried everything." You have tried everything general. Every plan you have been on was written for a body that was not yours, so what you have really established is that general plans do not suit you. That is useful information and it is not the same as having tried everything.

"Is 12 weeks really long enough?" It is long enough to see what your body responds to and to build the habits around it while you have support. That second part is the bit that carries on afterwards.

"What if I fail again?" Nobody in this has failed. A plan that did not fit stopped working, which is exactly what those plans do.

Twelve weeks, seven consults, built from your bloods.

If any of those three sounded like something you have said out loud, that is usually the moment to have a proper conversation about it. Twenty minutes, free, no pressure.

Two women. Same sentence. "I snack in the afternoon and I can't seem to stop."

On paper, identical. Underneath, opposite.

The first one. Sugar high, processed food high, cravings high. Sleep and stress completely fine. Her afternoon is a blood sugar story and the fix is earlier in the day.

The second one. Sleeping badly on every measure. Stressed. Running on empty. Grazing from four o'clock onwards. Her afternoon is about depletion, and appetite barely comes into it.

Same behaviour. Completely different thing to do about it.

Which is why generic advice keeps missing you.

Which one sounds more like your afternoon? Follow along if you want the rest of these, there are a few more coming.

After 16 years, the list of things I will not do has got longer than the list of things I will.

I will not put you on 1200 calories. I will not replace your meals with a shake. I will not hand you a plan I have already given somebody else with your name typed at the top.

I will not tell you what number you should be. That number is somebody else's preference, dressed up as a clinical target.

And I will not pretend 12 weeks is a finish line. It is long enough to find out what your body actually responds to and to build the habits around it. What you do with that afterwards is the real work, and it is yours.

Everything on that list makes the work slower and it makes it hold.

Which one of those has been sold to you before?

There's a question on my audit form that almost nobody answers honestly.

Eating after dinner.

On the forms it barely shows up. In my consult room it's one of the two biggest things women bring me.

The reason for that gap is shame. Eating after dinner carries more of it than anything else on the list, so it quietly gets downgraded.

If that's you, I want you to hear this. It is one of the most common things I see, and it almost always traces back to a day that didn't give you enough.

Save this for the next evening it happens. And if you want to tell me about yours, the comments or my DMs are both fine.

Five days and $47, and you stop guessing.

Here is exactly what happens. You track five days of food and drink, and alongside it your cravings, your hunger and your energy. No app, no fasting window to hit.

Then I read it. Not software, me. You get a report scoring six pillars out of ten: food quality, protein, fibre, balanced meals, meal frequency and eating window, with an explanation of what each score is actually doing in your week.

Then the part people use most. Your top three priority shifts, and a meal by meal upgrade from breakfast through to snacks, so you know what to change on Monday morning rather than in theory.

Your report comes back within two business days of finishing your five days tracking.

It is the least expensive way to find out what applies to your body specifically.

I'm about to talk myself out of a lot of content ideas.

You don't need another meal prep guide.

Every food diary I've read this month came from a woman who cooks at home. Who shops. Who plans. Who has containers in the fridge.

Logistics is not her problem and it hasn't been for years.

So when the internet hands her one more Sunday prep video, it's answering a question she never asked.

The gap is somewhere else entirely. Nobody has ever looked at her real week and told her what's actually off in it.

If you're organised and still stuck, comment SCORECARD below and I'll send it through.

Three mindset shifts that change what your food diary means.

Shift one. The food is rarely the problem. People send their five days in already apologising, and they do not need to. Most of what is on the page is genuinely good. That is not flattery, it is what the diary actually shows.

Shift two. It comes down to two or three things that happen most days. A meal that runs light so the next one arrives too hungry. A sweet finish that stopped being a choice a while back and became the way the day ends. A gap that is longer than anyone realised.

Shift three. You are starting from strength. Two or three changes is a much smaller job than overhauling a whole diet, and it means the fix points toward more food freedom.

That is what the audit is for. Five days, six pillars, and a report that tells you which two or three to start with.
