6 Remedies for Social Anxiety Part 2 of 2.

1. Get active: Exercise releases a chemical called dopamine in the brain which stabilizes your mood. So go for a jog in the park, go to the gym, and pour all of your anxiety into working out.

2. Challenge your brain: Thinking only of the present moment and not giving up is essential to getting better.

3. Enjoy nature: Nature has a calming effect which has a great payoff if done consistently.

4. Connect with loved ones: being around people you love or even with people you are comfortable with, decreases anxiety and loneliness.

5. Pay attention to yourself and your needs and be sure to acknowledge how you feel and what you can do to improve once a problem has been identified.

6. Create a Sanctuary: Create a space in your home, where no one can disturb you. This space will be your meditative space for happiness and self-reflection.

6 Types of Social Anxiety Part 1 of 2.

1. Avoiding social situations with people you are comfortable with

2. Avoiding eye contact as it is confrontational and brings discomfort

3. People think you’re extremely shy

4. Depending on alcohol to cope with social anxiety

5. You assume people think badly of you and overanalyse people's behaviour towards you even if it was unintentional.

6. You experience physical symptoms of anxiety such as trembling, sweating, vomiting, dizziness or rushing to the loo, your mind goes blank just when you most need to speak clearly.

An upcoming post will be about how to deal with these underlying problems and help us all connect better with one another, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, religion, politics, etc.
