✨ **Sharing the wisdom of Allison Davies — Music and the Brain** ✨
I have been deeply inspired by the work and wisdom of **Allison Davies from Music and the Brain**.
What I find particularly powerful about Allison’s perspective is that her understanding of neurodivergence does not come solely from study, research or professional practice. Allison openly shares that she is autistic herself, bringing a lived understanding of what it means to experience the world through a neurodivergent nervous system.
There is something incredibly valuable about wisdom that comes from **both knowledge and lived experience**.
Through her work exploring music, the brain, the nervous system and neurodivergence, Allison invites us to look beyond the idea that every brain should process, communicate, regulate or experience the world in the same way.
Instead, we can begin to become curious.
Curious about different nervous systems.
Curious about sensory needs.
Curious about what creates safety.
Curious about the role rhythm, sound and music can play in connection and regulation.
As someone who works with sound, vibration and the nervous system, this is something that resonates deeply with me.
Music is so much more than something we simply *hear*.
It can become a language when words are difficult.
A rhythm to return to when the world feels chaotic.
A pathway towards connection.
And sometimes, a beautiful way of allowing someone to simply experience themselves exactly as they are.
I’m so grateful for people like Allison who continue to share their knowledge, research and personal experience and who encourage us to understand neurodivergence with greater curiosity, compassion and respect. 🤍
**Different brains experience the world differently — and perhaps our role isn't always to change that experience, but to learn how to meet it.**
