As I gear up towards another year’s spin around the sun, I have indulged in a lot of self reflection, and attention to my life span that has brought me to this point.
With age comes experience, wisdom and a deeper understanding of who we are, earned through the landscapes, lessons and classrooms of life. The mistakes, the triumphs, the heartbreaks, the reinventions — all of it becomes part of the masterpiece.
At this stage I have arrived at a comfortable place of knowing and being truly grateful with who I am.
Comfortable in my skin, curious about what lies ahead and excited by what is still unfolding through me — which I sense is immeasurable.
You can be an icon in whatever you are passionate about, do what floats your boat, not what the crowd is following. Hang your own original creative masterpiece in the Gallery of Life, if you love it then its priceless. What inspires you fires you up.
So be fearless.
Don't be afraid of being a little self-indulgent. Pursue what brings you satisfaction, pleasure, adventure and joy — without feeling the need to explain yourself.
Cross boundaries. Especially the ones you once believed you couldn't.
Try something new. Change your mind. Reinvent yourself. Take up space. Say yes when you mean yes and no when you mean no. Be unapologetic.
Age doesn't have to make your world smaller. It can make your experience richer, deeper and far more interesting.
Perhaps the real gift of growing older is knowing yourself well enough to stop seeking approval for who you are becoming.
It’s not about fading quietly into the background.
It’s about becoming more of myself.
