Happy Birthday to one of our wonderful Speech Pathologists, Sashah! 💜🥳

Today we’re celebrating the amazing Sashah, whose warmth, compassion and dedication make her such a valued part of the So to Speak team.

Sashah brings so much care and encouragement to every session, creating a supportive space where our little clients can learn, grow and feel confident being themselves. Her passion for helping children find their voice and reach their goals shines through in everything she does. ✨

We’re so lucky to have Sashah as part of our team and hope her birthday is filled with plenty of love, laughter and all of her favourite things! 🎂💜

✨ Something NEW is coming in Term 4! ✨

We’re so excited to share that our Director, Tania, has recently completed Social Stencil training, which means we’ll soon be bringing the Social Stencil program to our So to Speak community! 💛

But what exactly is Social Stencil?

It’s a neurodiversity-affirming social and emotional learning program that helps children better understand themselves, other people, and the different ways we all communicate, connect and experience the world. 🌈

The program explores areas including:
✨ Emotions and emotional awareness
✨ Friendships and peer relationships
✨ Different communication and listening styles
✨ Understanding why conflict happens
✨ Strategies for navigating conflict
✨ Belonging and appreciating differences
✨ Building awareness of ourselves and others

And one of the things we LOVE most about Social Stencil? 💛

It isn't about teaching children that there is one “right” way to be social.

Instead, it celebrates differences and supports children to build understanding and confidence in their own way of communicating and connecting.

Social Stencil is designed for children in year 3–8, with Junior Social Stencil also available for younger children approximately 5–8 years old.

🏡 We’ll be introducing Social Stencil programs from our new clinic space in Term 4, with more information for families coming soon!

We cannot wait to bring this to So to Speak. 💛

SO TO SPEAK SIDEKICKS IS BACK! ✉️🌈

After such a fun first round, our Pen Pal Program is returning for Round 2, with a special group happening these school holidays! 🎉

So To Speak Sidekicks is all about making communication meaningful, motivating and FUN. 💌

Through shared interests, letter writing, creativity and connection, children can practise their communication skills in a supported environment, without it feeling like another school task.

Think new connections, lots of personality, plenty of creativity and a little So To Speak magic along the way. 🌈✨

🌈📦 WE’RE MOVING! 🎉

It’s official! Next month, So To Speak Therapy for Kids is moving into a brand-new clinic space! But don’t worry… we’re not going far. 💛

📍 Our new home:
Unit 1/5 Kingsbridge Boulevard, Butler

Our new clinic means more space and more possibilities for our children, families and team, including:

✨ More therapy rooms
🌈 More space for group programs
🧸 Better access to therapy resources and equipment
🤸 More room for movement, play and sensory-based activities
💛 A bigger, more welcoming space for our families
🌱 Room for So To Speak to continue growing!

And the best news? There will be no disruption to your current therapy schedule. Simply keep attending your appointments as usual and we’ll let you know when it’s time to start visiting us at our new home.

We’re also planning a special opening celebration once we’re settled in, so our families can come and explore the new space with us! 🎉

💛 Today is R U OK?Day 💛

At So to Speak, communication is at the heart of what we do, and today is an important reminder of just how powerful a conversation can be. 💬

Checking in with someone doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as:
🌻 “R U OK?”
💬 “How have things been going lately?”
💛 “I’m here if you want to talk.”

You don’t need to have all the answers or know exactly what to say. Taking the time to listen, be present and show someone you care can make a meaningful difference.

Today — and every day — let’s make time to check in with the people around us, listen without judgement and remind one another that we’re here. 🌈💛

Because sometimes, a conversation really can make all the difference.

🧡 Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, valued and heard.

This National Child Protection Week, the theme “Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action” is an important reminder of the role we can all play in creating safe and supportive communities for children.

And listening to children means recognising that communication doesn't always look the same. It might be through words, gestures, AAC, facial expressions, play or behaviour. 💬🌈

When we give children the time and space to communicate, respect how they express themselves and show them that what they have to say matters, we help create environments where they feel safe to be themselves.

Because every child deserves adults and communities who listen, support and advocate for them. 🧡

No qualifications required… but applicants must be prepared for unlimited hugs, bedtime stories, playground adventures, terrible dad jokes and being asked “Dad, watch this!” approximately 847 times a day. 😂

Today we’re celebrating all the incredible dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures who play, listen, encourage and cheer our little people on through every milestone, big and small. 🌈✨

The salary might only be hugs and handmade pictures… but we think the perks are pretty special. 🥹💛
