This is why I teach trauma sensitive & adaptive yoga.
I served 11 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a medic & as a result I have PTSD along with physical injuries.
Everyday I struggle with my physical & mental injuries from my service & generational trauma of war service.
I have been fortunate enough to fly to Canberra to speak about:
● Scrapping this $5K cap that the Australian Labor Government have proposed,
● Continue to let Veterans see the GP's & Specialist we have a relationship,
● Investigate the Department of Veterans Affairs & rebuild it as bandaid fixes arent working.
For the Veterans & their families who feel their voices are not being heard, we are fighting!
Today, I along with a group of Veterans spent 12 hours at Parliament House attending back to back meetings with Ministers, Senators & Members of Parliament. Telling every single one of them our stories & the stories of those we know & how detrimental it is for this Cap To Be Scrapped!
We will be back again tomorrow before flying out tomorrow night, getting in around 11pm... in time for Wednesday's yoga class.
Rockingham is home to the second largest Veteran population in this country & home to the largest Navy base. We are hurting & have been for a long time- hence why I started teaching my style of yoga- to save lives!
So please, share to your networks to both educate the public & to let Veterans & their families that we are fighting for our brothers & sisters.
Veterans don't have a union, so we are representing ourselves. Even though we have physical & mental injuries, we are fighting! We cant afford to lose anymore lives, too many have already been lost.
Veterans Supporting Veterans- thats where the true magic is! 🙏🩷🎗🇦🇺
