Many chronic illnesses are invisible.

From the outside someone may look well, capable, or “normal”.

But behind the scenes they may be managing fatigue, pain, brain fog, medication side effects, or unpredictable symptoms.

Invisible illness can make people feel misunderstood or questioned.

Believing people’s experiences — even when we cannot see their symptoms — matters.

Living with a chronic illness can be exhausting.

Not just physically, but emotionally too.

The symptoms, the uncertainty, the appointments, the limitations, the losses, the constant adjustments. It can feel like life has become smaller, harder, and more complicated than other people realise.

If you've ever left a conversation feeling misunderstood, dismissed, or like you had to explain chronic illness all over again, my hope is that working with me feels different.

Less explaining. More understanding.

As a counsellor who specialises in chronic illness, I provide a space where you can talk openly about what you're facing with someone who understands both professionally and personally.

I live with chronic illness myself and understand that the challenges extend far beyond symptoms.

Together, we might explore:
• Grief and loss associated with changes in health
• Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
• Identity and self-worth
• Relationships, family, and social connection
• Adjusting to a new way of living
• Medical dismissal, gaslighting, or healthcare-related trauma
• Finding meaning, purpose, and hope alongside illness
• Anything else that may be affecting your well-being

My hope is that through counselling, you feel heard, understood, supported, and better equipped to navigate the realities of living with chronic illness.

One of the quieter impacts of chronic illness is the change in identity that can happen over time.

You may find yourself asking questions like:

Who am I now?
What can my life look like going forward?
What parts of me remain the same?

Chronic illness can change many things — but it doesn’t erase who you are.

Identity can evolve while still holding onto the parts of yourself that matter most.

When Lyme disease left Avril Lavigne bedridden for months, she later spoke about how frightening and isolating that experience was. She wrote the song Head Above Water about her experience.

Many people living with chronic illness face moments where the severity of their symptoms feels overwhelming or frightening.

Behind the scenes there can be fear, uncertainty and grief that others may never see.

If you live with chronic illness, your emotional experience deserves support too.

Living with chronic illness requires a quiet kind of strength.

The strength to adapt.
The strength to keep going on the hard days.
The strength to rebuild life in new ways.

Even when it doesn’t look like progress from the outside, surviving today is still a form of resilience.

Your life may look different with chronic illness.

Different pace.
Different priorities.
Different limits.

But different does not mean less meaningful.

There is still growth, purpose, and strength in the life you are living.

Growth doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it’s small. Slow. Quiet.

When you live with chronic illness, your physical capacity might be limited.
Your energy might be unpredictable.
Your body may set boundaries you didn’t choose.

But growth is still happening.

Every time you:
• Pace instead of push
• Rest without apologising
• Advocate for what you need
• Get through a hard day without giving up

You are building something powerful.

Resilience.
Emotional strength.
Self-trust.
A deeper understanding of your limits — and your worth beyond them.

Chronic illness asks you to grow in ways most people never see.
The strength you’re building may be invisible to others… but it is real.
You are growing. 🌱
Even here.
Especially here.

If you’re navigating chronic fatigue, ME/CFS, MS, long COVID, EDS, endometriosis or another chronic condition, you don’t have to do the emotional work alone.

Support is here when you’re ready.
