As you can probably tell… I’m not the artist. 😂

Our previous artist callout used an AI-generated promotional image, and some members of the creative community raised concerns about that. We listened.

DOVE181 exists to create opportunities for real artists with disability, so our promotion should reflect those values too.

We’re looking for artists with disability from across Australia to create original black-line illustrations for our first inclusive children’s colouring book.

DOVE181 – Calling Artists to the Front

Today marks the beginning of something that should have existed long ago.

DOVE181 is now live — and with it, the first step toward changing how disability is seen, represented, and understood in everyday spaces.

I am currently seeking artists living with disability to collaborate on an upcoming children’s colouring book.

This project is not about speaking for the community — it is about creating space for artists to speak through their own work, in their own way. Real lives. Real perspectives. Real representation.

The aim is simple, but powerful:

To place disability into the hands of children as something normal, visible, and human — not hidden, not explained away, not reduced.

If you are an artist living with disability, or you know someone whose work deserves to be seen, I invite you to connect.

This is a paid opportunity, and all collaborations will be approached with respect, transparency, and fairness.

This is more than a book.

I’m really excited to finally introduce a project that has been growing in my heart for some time.

DOVE181 is a creative initiative dedicated to celebrating and promoting artists living with disability while bringing representation to mainstream media.

Working in the disability sector, and raising a young adult with autism, has shown me how important it is to support people to feel seen, valued and empowered.

The first project for DOVE181 will be a children’s colouring book that represents kids of all abilities enjoying a range of adventures. We will be seeking artist to collaborate in the coming weeks, more information can be found on the website.
