With the construction of the hospital building now complete, we are sharing some of the details that make our new hospital unique.

Approximately 150,000 Midland burnished red bricks have been laid across the hospital's facade, helping connect the building to the rich heritage of the nearby Midland Railway Workshops precinct.

It's one of the many ways the hospital's design reflects the history of the area while creating a modern health care facility for future generations.

A key milestone for the new St John of God Midland Private Hospital 🔑

Construction of the hospital building is now complete, marking an important step towards the hospital’s planned opening on 27 August 2026.

Our teams are now moving into the final preparation phase including testing systems, installing equipment and making sure the hospital is ready to safely welcome its first patients.

The new 123-bed hospital will expand access to private health care for Perth's eastern suburbs, the Perth Hills and the Wheatbelt, and will feature eight operating theatres, an interventional cardiology catheterisation laboratory and on-demand room service dining.

Thank you to the hundreds of caregivers, contractors, consultants and project partners who have helped bring this exciting project to life. We look forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to opening day.

With landscaping works now underway, we thought now would be the perfect time to share more about this special space. 🌿

Designed to support wellbeing, connection and moments of calm our outdoor spaces will include shaded seating areas, sensory gardens and welcoming places for patients, visitors and caregivers to rest and recharge.

The planting draws inspiration from the local flora of the Helena River and the broader Swan and Canning River systems, helping create a landscape that feels connected to nature, place and the heritage character of the Railway Workshops precinct.

First look for our future leaders 👀

Recently we welcomed some of the leaders who will be joining our new hospital for their first visit to site.

It was a fantastic opportunity for them to see the hospital taking shape, with plenty of excitement and admiration for the beautiful spaces being created. These leaders will play an important role in building strong, supportive teams focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

We look forward to welcoming more of our caregivers to site in the months ahead as we continue to prepare for opening.

Anzac Day is more than a date - it’s a moment to pause, reflect, and remember.

We honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, and the more than 100,000 Australians who have lost their lives in service to our nation. We also recognise those who continue to serve today.

For many, service doesn’t end when they return home. The invisible wounds of war, including trauma and post-traumatic stress, can last long after active duty.

For over 30 years, St John of God Health Care has supported members of Australia’s defence and veteran community through specialised trauma care - a commitment that continues to grow.

Today, we remember their service and sacrifice - and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them every day.
