A simple and slow Monday to end our long weekend:
🪾Rope swings
🍊 freshly squeezed orange juice
🥾bush strolls
🪻wildflower picking

Not pictured:
😡The HUGE meltdown over wanting to pick more flowers
🚽 The zillions of toilet stops
🏠 The mess that my house is in
🔢 The number of times I had to say ‘put your shoes on!’

But between the messiness of life we found some little glimmers of joy today and it was beautiful.

We all mean well when we ask about the baby, but what if we asked questions that really got to the heart of how the mother is feeling?

Because, let's be honest, when we ask, 'Is she a good baby?' what we often mean is: Are you getting enough rest? Are you coping? Are you enjoying motherhood? How are you really doing?

Those are the things we genuinely want to know, not whether the baby has started a gang or embezzled millions of dollars 🤣🤣

But seriously, sometimes the most meaningful conversation starts when we focus on the mother, not just the baby.

Inspired in our play today by Thanks for the playdough recipe!

I’ll definitely be using this again tomorrow for sibling play at our final session of the repeat parent programme with (DM if you’d like to know more about this beautiful series designed especially for parents welcoming subsequent children.)

Play with your bubs and older siblings doesn’t have to be complicated. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, simple is often best.

Some Tupperware from the cupboard, a few leaves from the backyard… kids will bring the imagination. And you might just get 3 whole minutes to drink your coffee while it’s still warm ☕️
