At the end of last month, Gavin and Norma attended the Hunter Insight Series at the The University of Newcastle, Australia, joining important conversations around the future of the NDIS and the impact of reform on regional communities.

The session, “Beyond the Budget: NDIS Reform, Regional Economies”, provided valuable insight into the challenges, opportunities, and changes shaping the disability support sector across the Hunter and beyond.

At HEDSS, staying informed and actively involved in these discussions is an important part of how we continue to advocate for participants, strengthen our services, and support our local community.

We’re proud to be part of conversations that help shape a more inclusive and sustainable future for disability support in regional Australia.

A warm welcome to Joss, who has recently joined our Somerset home at HEDSS. 💙

We’re excited to have Joss as part of the HEDSS family and look forward to supporting her as she settles into her new home, builds connections, and enjoys everything Somerset has to offer.

Our Somerset home currently has 1 vacancy remaining for the right participant. The home would best suit someone comfortable living with a friendly puppy and cat as part of the household. 🐶🐱

At HEDSS, we’re passionate about creating supportive homes where participants feel safe, connected, and empowered to live independently.

If you’d like to learn more about the Somerset vacancy, please get in touch with our team https://hedss.com.au/service/supported-independent-living/

Staff News 🥳

Congratulations Phillip!

We're excited to celebrate another proud moment within the HEDSS team, with our valued support worker Phillip recently making his Centre Men's debut in the NHRL competition.

What made the occasion even more special was sharing the field with his son Reuben, who also made his debut alongside him, a truly memorable and meaningful experience for their family.

Phillip's dedication, both on and off the field, reflects the commitment and passion he brings to his role every day.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is a reminder that digital access is essential for everyone.

Around the world, millions of people live with disabilities, yet too many websites, apps, and digital experiences still create unnecessary barriers. Accessibility isn’t just about compliance; it’s about inclusion, usability, and respect.

The focus for Global Accessibility Awareness Day is simple: get more people talking, thinking, and learning about digital access and inclusion.

For businesses, it’s also a reality check. If your website or digital platforms aren’t accessible, you’re not just excluding users, you’re limiting your reach and impact.
