Today is R U OK? Day. 💛

For the disability community, asking this simple question can mean the absolute world. Statistically, people with a disability face significantly higher risks of mental health struggles and isolation. Navigating systemic barriers, NDIS hurdles, and daily accessibility challenges takes a massive emotional toll.

Not everyone communicates or processes information the same way. When checking in with your neurodivergent, deaf, or disabled friends and family today, remember to tailor your approach:

Make it accessible: Use their preferred communication method, whether that is speech, text, AAC devices, or Auslan.

Be patient: Give them extra time to process the question and formulate their thoughts without rushing them.

Check on carers, too: The constant demand and stress of caring for a loved one can lead to intense burnout. They need to be asked "R U OK?" just as much.

Don't try to "fix" it: You don't need to be an NDIS expert or a therapist. Just listening without judgment is a powerful first step.

T.B. started with one driving lesson..........and now he is behind the wheel almost every Sunday. 🚗🙌

The confidence and pride he's built along the way has been so good to watch. He's working towards his goal, building his independence and showing himself what he's capable of.

This is what it's all about.....
Supporting people to have a go, work towards their own goals and do things they never though they could. 🙌
