Wilderness Pursuits, which has now evolved into Wilderness Rooftop Studio, was inspired by a book I began writing in 2017 and finally completed in January this year.
(Releasing this year, in a launch at the studio TBA.)

At its heart, Wilderness is about finding our inner wild — our authentic self. The version of us that may have been hidden, masked, or silenced as we navigated life’s challenges and the survival patterns created by our inner child.

As the founder of Wilderness, I have created more than a space; I have created a community where people can reconnect with who they truly are. By sharing this journey with practitioners and creatives who are living and working authentically, the space continues to grow, evolve, and inspire every day.

Wilderness is not simply a business or a brand. It is a way of life. It is about embracing who you are without the need to impress, perform, or conform. It is about encouraging others to lean into what is real, raw, and genuine, building stronger relationships with themselves and those around them.

Through healing, creativity, connection, and self-discovery, we learn to cultivate self-reliance, personal growth, self-love, and admiration for the journey that has shaped us.

Every step, every breath, and every creative expression becomes part of the path back to ourselves.

Your adventure begins by finding the wild within — your own Wilderness. From there, you can move beyond perceived limitations and discover the person you were always meant to be.

Empathy and your inner wild.

Empathy should be a natural state when we are deeply connected to our inner wild. But there comes a point where empathy can become the doorway to allowing our boundaries to be overstepped.

Empathy should always be a two-way street. People often say “have no expectations,” but the truth is, everyone naturally has them. The difference is whether those expectations are realistic and healthy.

The first step to true empathy is having it for yourself first, then for others. This creates healthy boundaries, self-respect, and balanced expectations within relationships. And when I speak of expectations, I am not speaking about unrealistic demands — I am speaking about basic human decency.

If you empathise with someone, it is natural to desire empathy in return. That is not a high expectation. That is a basic emotional exchange, and you are allowed to feel that.

Time and energy are valuable commodities. Those who continually disrespect yours often do not respect their own. And if they do, yet still disregard yours, it can fall into the space of double standards.

Always ask yourself:
Would I do that to someone else?
Would I tolerate that behaviour from myself?

If the answer is no, then it becomes clear you should not continue allowing it from others either.

It sounds simple, yet many people move through life disconnected from empathy — both for themselves and for others.

So now it becomes time to heal the places within yourself where you may have lacked empathy, boundaries, or self-honouring… so you can fully honour both yourself and those around you.
