Here is one of the most common winter skincare mix-ups we see: the idea that a hydrating serum can replace your moisturiser.
They actually do two different jobs. A hydrating serum is water-binding, which means it draws moisture into the skin. A moisturiser is barrier-sealing, which means it locks that moisture in. Without the seal, the water you have just added simply evaporates.
This is why hydrated skin can still feel tight by the middle of the day in winter. The serum did its job, it just needs a moisturiser over the top to hold the result.
The fix is layering, not a stronger serum. Send us a message if you'd like help getting your winter routine in the right order.
