14th May 2026 was Apraxia Awareness Day and 15th May 2026 was Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

Apraxia affects communication; poor accessibility excludes. Together, they highlight the need for communication access and universal design.
This month Neurodiverse Therapies encourages you to listen, adapt, and include; instead of judging, restricting, and excluding. Do what you can to support people with apraxia and difficulties accessing their commmunity as a result of a mismatch between their needs and their environments.

If this resonates please share or repost.

If you would like neurodiversity affirming occupational therapy support to better understand your needs and what adaptations and accomodations you may need to function better in daily life, please reach out to Dr Micah Perez at Neurodiverse Therapies.

12th May 2026 was International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND), and Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.

CIND like ME/CFS and fibromyalgia steal energy, amplify pain, and challenge daily life - yet people who have these conditions are often dismissed as being "just tired."

This month, Neurodiverse Therapies acknowledges the functional difficulties whilst honouring the resilience and strength of those affected.

If this resonates, share or repost to spread awareness for CIND and fibromyalgia.
Your action helps break the silence - thank you.

If you would like neurodiversity affirming occupational therapy support for CIND and/or fibromyalgia, please reach out to Dr Micah Perez at Neurodiverse Therapies.

Free PD by Attwood and Garnett Events on AuDHD.

Prof Tony Attwood and Dr Michelle Garnett are running a free 60-minute webinar on Tuesday 19 May. They'll cover the latest research on AuDHD across the lifespan, the strengths that come with it, and the support that actually works.

You're not "a bit of both." You're AuDHD. There's a difference.
Most people who've heard of autism and ADHD think of them as two separate things. They aren't. About 70% of autistic people also have ADHD. The combination creates its own neurotype.
It explains why you crave deep focus and constant novelty. Why you need rules but break them. Why you can hyperfocus for nine hours then forget to eat for two days.
It also explains why the strategies that worked for your ADHD friend make you feel worse. And why "just push through" advice for autistic adults leaves you in burnout.

May is both Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Awareness Month and Mental Health Awareness Month - because physical and mental health are deeply connected.
Supporting people with EDS and/or mental health conditions means acknowledging the whole person, not just what we can see.

Both EDS and mental health conditions are often misunderstood and invisible to others. If someone says they're in pain, fatigued, or mentally and/or physically struggling - believe them. Be curious instead of judgemental. Awareness and understanding starts with listening and compassion.

Awareness and understanding can grow when we give opportunities to people with lived experience; and when we listen, honour, and amplify these voices.

If you have learned something from living with EDS and/or mental health conditions, share or repost this to help others become aware too.

If you would like neurodiversity affirming occupational therapy support for EDS and/or mental health conditions, please reach out to Dr Micah Perez at Neurodiverse Therapies.
