Episode #91 - Breastfeeding 101: Navigating the Early Days with Aimee Sing

I am so grateful for the wisdom and knowledge of my beautiful doula and lactation consultant Aimee Sing Aimee Sing ~ Blue Mountains & Nepean Doula & IBCLC ~ Birth Aims 🍼

I’ve had about 4-5 new mums give me the advice that they wish they had seen a lactation consultant sooner, that breastfeeding in the early days was such a challenge and that the support from a lactation consultant was so helpful.

Aimee’s information has not only helped me feel more prepared for the breast feeding set up, but has also stopped me from more overwhelm and the overconsumption of products that were told we need from social media.

If breastfeeding is a part of your post-partum plan, give this episode a listen ♥️

Episode #91 - Breastfeeding 101: Navigating the Early Days with Aimee Sing

Breastfeeding is more of a challenge than a lot of women might expect, and those early days can be extremely challenging.

I’m lucky enough that my beautiful doula Aimee Sing Aimee Sing ~ Blue Mountains & Nepean Doula & IBCLC ~ Birth Aims is also a highly educated lactation consultant, who has dedicated her career to supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and the postpartum period.

Aimee is also the Vice President of Homebirth NSW and co-host of the Australian VBAC Stories podcast.

In this episode, we focus exclusively on lactation and the early breastfeeding journey. We explore what to expect in those first days and weeks after birth, common challenges new mothers face, the social and emotional aspects of breastfeeding, and practical considerations for establishing a feeding rhythm that works for both mother and baby.

Thank you for all of your wisdom and knowledge Aimee 🙏🙏 you’re the absolute best.

Chia pudding is on my current weekly meal prep rotation, not for having as a full meal but for just a few spoonfuls after lunch and in the afternoon as a sweet treat 🍫

I’m a sucker for needing a little sweet snack after meals or around that 3pm mark so being able to open the fridge and find something that hits the spot but also is incredible for gut health is winner to me.

My super simple chia pudding recipe ⬇️

• 2.5 tbsps chia seeds
• 1/2 cup light Greek yogurt
• 1/2 cup light milk of choice
• 1 tbsps maple syrup

From here I add either a bit of cinnamon and vanilla essence or 2 tsps of cacoa powder to make it chocolatey.

If it comes out too runny or too thick to your liking, simply add a little more chia seeds and let rest again or add a little more milk to thin it out!

Another clip from our girls U14 rugby talk Unwind. Studios 🍰🍿

Its a privilege and an honour to be able to share positive food and body image messaging with younger girls, in a world where the nutrition and fitness noise is so loud.

Every food serves a purpose - and there is a purpose of food for fun, connection, and simply because it tastes good 🍦 teaching girls the balance of looking after themselves as active women in sports, whilst avoiding harsh and restrictive food rules by understanding deeply that all foods have a place !

Corporate seminar talk - “Nutrition for Busy Professionals”

The busier we get in life, the more we need our health and full capacity, but it’s often when we throw our health to the side. We prepare less and prioritise tasks over movement. A 2013 Xero study indicated that 59% of business owners say they prioritise their business over their own health.

That’s a staggering number to me and another reason why keeping yourself and your company inspired and informed is important to maintaining a positive relationship with work !

We don’t value people off of what they look like. We remember people for how they make us feel. How kind we are, how patient, how sweet, funny, or how good we make others feel.

I wish I felt and understood this earlier in my life, along with how to properly fuel, respect, and love my body.

This week Unwind. Studios I had the beautiful opportunity to chat nutrition and body positivity for a girls rugby league wellbeing evening.

Super grateful to be able to share some positive messages like this ♥️

Pelvic health is one of those things we know exists or have heard of, but rarely speak about or actually understand how it can help us throughout life! I was completely clueless until I met Danielle.

Episode #92 of The Heal My Health Podcast I sit down with women’s health and pelvic floor physiotherapist Danielle Fruend. She talks about what the pelvic floor actually is, why it matters, and how pelvic health physiotherapy can support women through conditions like endometriosis, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, bladder concerns, and so much more.

This chat is full of information every woman should know.

🎧 Episode #92: *Pelvic Health Explained* is available now.

As I get closer to becoming a mum I’m reflecting much more on the people who have shaped me in my own life journey, and what lessons I can bring forward to my daughter.

These are not just from my parents, but my friends parents, teachers, and other figures who have influenced me and the way I see the world, navigate challenges, build relationships, and care for others.

Some of these lessons were taught directly, through words and guidance. But others I learned through watching how someone has treated others, how they respond when life gets hard, what they prioritise, and the example they set every day.

Thirteen weeks away from meeting our little one, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the wisdom, values, and love from my guiders that helped shape the person I am today. I can only hope to pass even a fraction of those lessons on ♥️

If you have a lesson that you’ve taken, comment it below because I’d love to know!
