My latest blog is my personal story.
I've been living with chronic sinusitis since March 2025. It has had a really bad effect on my quality of life, as anyone who has had this or suffering this. Let me explain.
I've experienced difficulty breathing through my nose, waking with an insanely dry mouth and throat, post nasal drip that causes coughing, and constant throat-clearing every morning.
I’ve had standard GP allergy blood tests for grass, mould, pollen and dust, blood tests to rule out certain cancers, an X-ray of my lungs, a CT scan of my sinuses, and an endoscope passed up my nose by an ENT.
Whilst it is reassuring to know that there are no allergies, no polyps, and nothing sinister, the ongoing problem still remains unanswered by the GP and the ENT.
The worst part about all this is, and how it has affected my life so much, is that it has caused sleep apnoea. This means that I have had chronically disturbed sleep for nearly 18 months at the time of writing this.
Knowing what I know about disturbed sleep, this places me at a far higher risk of having a stroke, or developing cardiovascular disease. And having a young child makes this part very worrying.
Being in perimenopause, I asked the GP at the time if it could possibly be linked. He emphatically denied it. I knew he was wrong, because I had already noticed the severity of nose stuffiness fluctuating with each passing month, and during the month.
But after leaving no stone unturned in my own investigations, I realised how wrong he was.
