# Information Sheet – Cranial Faults (Restricted Movement of the Skull Bones)
Your skull protects one of the most remarkable organs in your body—your brain. Although many people think the skull is one solid bone, it is actually made up of numerous bones joined together by specialised fibrous joints called sutures. During infancy these joints allow the skull to grow with the developing brain. In adulthood they become much firmer, although some healthcare practitioners believe that a small amount of movement may still occur within the cranial structures.
Your brain is surrounded by a clear fluid known as **Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)**. CSF cushions and protects the brain and spinal cord, transports nutrients, assists with waste removal and helps maintain a healthy environment for the central nervous system.
Medical science recognises that CSF is continuously produced, circulated and reabsorbed. The precise factors influencing its movement are complex and involve several normal physiological mechanisms, including blood flow, breathing and pressure changes within the nervous system.
# # Our Clinical Perspective
At ENERGYCHIRO, we recognise that optimal function depends not only on the structure of the spine but also on the healthy function of the entire nervous system.
Our examination includes an assessment of cranial function, eye movement coordination, posture, muscle function and other neurological indicators. We use these findings to determine whether restrictions within the cranial tissues or surrounding structures may be contributing to your presenting symptoms.
One assessment involves observing your ability to smoothly follow a moving object with your eyes. Smooth eye tracking requires complex communication between the eyes, brain, inner ear and nervous system. Reduced smoothness or coordination may indicate altered neurological function and forms one part of our overall clinical assessment.
We may also perform muscle testing before and after treatment to observe changes in neuromuscular function. These findings help guide your care but are not used as a stand-alone diagnostic test.
# # Cranial Mobilisation
Where clinically appropriate, treatment consists of extremely gentle cranial mobilisation techniques designed to reduce restriction within the cranial structures and surrounding soft tissues.
Patients frequently describe the treatment as relaxing and comfortable. Many report improvements in areas such as:
• Headaches
• Neck tension
• Jaw discomfort
• Mental clarity
• Concentration
• Balance and coordination
• General wellbeing
Every individual responds differently. While many patients experience improvement, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
# # What You May Experience After Treatment
Because treatment is directed at the nervous system, some patients notice temporary responses following care. These may include:
• Feeling light-headed or "spaced out"
• Temporary tiredness or fatigue
• Mild headache
• Temporary changes in energy levels
• Increased awareness of areas that were previously tense
These responses are generally mild, short-lived and usually settle within 24–48 hours.
To help your recovery we recommend:
* Drinking plenty of water.
* Resting if practical after your appointment.
* Avoiding strenuous activity if you feel unusually tired.
If you experience any unexpected or concerning symptoms following treatment, please contact our clinic promptly.
# # Your Care Plan
Your treatment plan is individualised according to your examination findings, health history and response to care.
Some patients improve after only a few treatments, while others with longer-standing or more complex conditions may benefit from a longer course of care. Throughout your treatment, Dr John Moore will continually reassess your progress and discuss any recommendations with you so you can make informed decisions about your care.
# # Our Goal
Our goal is simple—to help your nervous system function as efficiently as possible so your body can perform at its best.
While chiropractic care cannot guarantee the resolution of every condition, improving the function of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems may help reduce symptoms, improve movement and support your overall health and quality of life.
# # Questions?
Understanding your care is an important part of achieving the best possible outcome.
If you have any questions about your examination, diagnosis, treatment or recommendations, please write them down and bring them to your next appointment. Dr John Moore will be pleased to discuss them with you and ensure you have the information you need to make informed decisions about your healthcare.
