It’s a giant lie and wishful thinking on their part! The older woman is always represented as problematic in popular culture, meanwhile many women are boldly going against what’s expected of us! Everywhere we look women in their 40’s onwards are starting business, travelling solo, learning new hobbies or pursuing dreams they’d long given up, or finding out who they are at this stage of their lives. It’s exciting and far from the narrative they are trying to sell us. We are not invisible unless we choose to be.
So why do women suddenly feel invisible at this age? It’s an internalised message, we have been nurtured to make ourselves perform for the male gaze and when we are no longer subjected to it, we feel that something is missing! It’s not that we don’t turn heads anymore, we turn fewer heads. They want that to feel like a loss. But the question is do we want it in the first place? Our worth is intrinsic, not external.
Yet the world has told us from the cradle that our value lies in how we look to others, especially men. At every turn we are told and sold solutions to our aging “problems” anti-aging creams, gadgets for looking younger, workouts to stop ageing, bio hacks of every kind. I’m all for health and wellbeing. I will take care of my skin, my body and health. But I am mindful that aging is a privilege. I have earned my laughter lines. My face, my body tell the story of the years, the tears and the laughter in-between. So, I’m embracing each day as it comes, and if I get an invisibility cloak from unwanted attention at the advanced age of 46 it’s not a bad side effect!

That was me being unshakable in action. In this scenario I had to overcome my internalised stories. We all grew up watching mean girls and countless other movies where the dress is ruined, and the occasion is wrecked and our younger versions believed it.
We were taught not one hair should be out of place, unpainted nails were unsightly and going to work without stockings was unthinkable! Everything about our appearance had to be perfect.
One slip up and you felt immediate, acute embarrassment. It was mostly self-inflicted.
I care about how I look and how I am dressed, but now when things happen, I don’t fall apart. I am comfortable to either carry on if possible or go home, if need be, calmly without shrinking with embarrassment or beating myself up over it.
It goes deeper than clothes. Embarrassment is a choice. Like any emotion you can feel it and let it pass or stop choosing it altogether once you see it for what it is. We worry about what others think, and embarrassment is a form of compliance, we feel embarrassed when we aren’t adhering to a prescribed norm in that moment. What happens by choosing not to be embarrassed? This is the work behind becoming unshakable. Coaching expands your self-awareness, uncovers your stories and holds up your choices to the light so you can see how much of what you react to is on autopilot and is optional, you can change it! You can choose to stop letting it run the show and rewrite the outcomes instead. What story do you want to change? Share below.

Confidence is an inside job, we have all heard that line before. It’s true. Many people also say fake it till you make it. There’s a reason why fake it till you make is shaky ground and leaves us out to dry many times and at the worst moments!
There are days and situations where we feel less than our best, and confidence alludes us. What do I do then? That’s why it’s important to do the work, when we have a certain base that becomes our threshold we don’t crash out feeling so exposed. That baseline is your confidence no matter what. It will fluctuate for everyone, including me and I teach this! But nothing will push me below my baseline. Not the death screen on my laptop during a presentation, a spilled drink ruining my dress in public, or forgetting what to say in front of a room full of people, mic in hand.
Because I know deep down I’ve got this. Even if I stuff up, or something happens my faith in my ability to somehow come out the other end unscathed is unshakeable. I know nothing catastrophic or unfixable is going to happen to me or anyone else because of these incidents. It may not be perfect, I may feel mortified things happened the way they did, or even feel exposed, but I will not feel diminished by it. That kind of unshakable resilience wasn’t something I was born with or that I had ten years ago. It’s not downloadable, I can’t give it to you. You can’t buy it. It’s something you have to work towards and Wellbeing coaching sets you on the path to building that for yourself. Let me know what is affecting your confidence currently?

When you think of Kapha think cool, slow steady. Kapha is all about structure and support. Its elements earth (think mountain, rocks) stand for that structure and solidity, earth also means the ground. When mixed with water it has the properties of clay.
Too much water and it’s sticky and heavy.
Kapha’s would rather sleep in, take it slow wrapped up at home in a comfy blanket. If Kapha’s come out for you when they are already on their comfort zone take it as a big compliment. Out of balance they can feel stuck, depressed and they clamp shut. Getting them to talk can feel next to impossible in that state.
But a Kapha is the person who is loyal and dependable no matter what. I love my calm cool and collected Khapa friends. Do you know a Kapha? Tag them if you do!

Fiery Pitta! Pittas usually have a medium build. They are prone to rashes and allergies with sensitive skin. Their hair is fine to medium. Tend to always feel warm even in cooler temperatures.
They are energetic, intelligent, quick to digest information and able to transmute that knowledge and make it their own, thanks to the transformative power of fire.
A pitta in balance is a great natural leader out of balance they can be critical and have a temper. They tend to suffer from burnout as everything even relaxation becomes goal orientated and competitive.
They get things done, fast and efficiently. A Pitta needs challenges, variety and goals to feel they are achieving things to thrive and stop them from getting bored. Know anyone who is a pitta in your life? Tag them in the comments.

Vata’s are a combination of space and air. Think of the qualities of Air and space. Quick, fast, changing and unpredictable that’s Vata. Space is limitless, endless possibilities that’s also Vata, they want to keep trying new things and have new experiences. They resist routine like the plague.
You all have that one friend she breezes in, everything happens effortlessly and she looks like she’s just buoyant . Thats a Vata in balance. Then theres the one who is prepared for every emergency, she’s carrying so much (physically, emotionally and mentally) she’s having three different conversations with you and forgetting mid sentence which story she was telling you, and there’s a chaotic energy coming off of her in waves, that’s a Vata imbalance.
A Vata in balance is a good communicator, entertaining lively and creative. Out of balance they can be exhausted burnout and over explain things. Self doubt, tendency for flight and self criticism are big.
Their digestion is a whole other post! 🙈

I get asked what’s the one thing I’d tell a client to do if that’s all they could do. My response is usually Meditation. It’s also the one response that seems to irritate people the most.

It’s funny that something so peaceful, rooted in stillness and non judgement, gets the most “ugh’s!” Because people find it hard to sit still, in silence. It’s uncomfortable, the idea for many seems counterproductive. For a stressed anxious or sleep deprived person; exasperating! “you are telling me sit still for how long? When I’m short on time!”
But that’s exactly why it’s best to meditate. Meditation helps you reclaim your calm, your inner navigation system and that 30mins of stillness makes you so much more prepared for the day and everything it can possibly throw at you. So in essence you could say it ends up saving you time.

The frustration that comes, it’s from your internal state and people treating Meditation like it’s as an item on a to do list. They think of it as an objective and it should deliver a certain outcome. Meditation my friend is no such thing. You will have the meditation experience you need to have on that day. That’s it. You can’t control it and expect a certain outcome. But the benefits, they seep into every corner and facet of your life well beyond the meditation!

Have you ever been told to meditate and thought ugh, or you’re “bad” at it or it’s too slow and boring? Then it’s time to bust some myths and learn it properly. DM me for details or take a look at the link in my bio for my website.

It’s ironic that what annoys people the most about Ayurveda is what makes Ayurveda truly unique. It’s also what confuses people who want to start Ayurveda, the most. The majority of advice out there treats it like one generic daily routine, follow these steps, in this order, done and dusted. Even I have posts giving a simple outline like that. But this isn’t how Ayurveda works. Ayurveda needs to work on an individual basis.

In the beginning its important to adopt only one or two practices around your goals so its sustainable. Yes only one or two not ten! But for it to truly work its magic you need to know and understand your constitution (your Dosha) and its current imbalances because it doesn’t stay static. Then learn about all the doshas and how to adapt practices to every season and phase of your own life. Not someone else’s checklist or protocol. Ayurveda isn’t a wellness trend or hack, it’s a 5000 year old science-backed lifestyle built for balance of your entire being, not just weight loss or clear skin.

Ayurveda works, but when you allow it to work the way it was intended to, as a whole individualised system, not cherry picked. And that is what annoys people the most because there is no shortcut or protocol list that I can hand over to you. Do not get me wrong, practices exist that we all do, but they have to be personalised right down to which oil to use, how many times a week etc. What suits me is not going to suit Jessica, Ananya or Mark.
If you are curious about your Dosha there’s a free Know your Dosha quiz link, in my bio. Drop any question you may have in the comments below.

Habits take time to build, sticking to one seems harder for some than others. The key takeaways; make the habit easy to do, remove any perceived barriers. When we feel well, the weather is good and we aren’t in a rush we can do a lot! Pick actions that you can do to support your new habit even when it’s a bleak day, you feel down and you’re rushed. What’s that version of a habit? When the day, the world or life sucks? Building out any excuses and answering the objections you’ll raise, paves a smoother road to consistency. And consistency is key to forming new habits! Make the habit non-negotiable, so it becomes a reflex like action like brushing your teeth, one you’ll feel weird not performing.
Waiting to feel drive or ambition to spur you into action is handing over responsibility to an uncontrolled variable. Instead pick habits that align with who you want to become. Make sure there’s no deeper resistance at play, you don’t enjoy or align with the goal of the habit, or you don’t believe you could be the person who performs it. Get curious. Let me know in the comments what’s something new you’re trying to do or include in your daily routine and what’s stopping you?
