Ok, stop right there. Apart from these 'cure' claims, there is something else we should all be livid over⁣:

Society’s need to cure autism.⁣

𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 👏 𝐢𝐬 👏 𝐍𝐎𝐓 👏 𝐭𝐡𝐞 👏 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦👏.⁣

Autism is a way of being. It’s not possible or necessary to separate the person from autism. ⁣
⁣
If your child's therapist or provider says anything along the lines of “we are going to cure him and help him defeat his autism”….I;d suggest you find another provider. Find someone who will advocate for your child. Someone who finds tremendous value in working with your child by utilising their strengths to help them uncover a world of possibilities that would have otherwise been overlooked.

Autism doesn’t need an exit strategy. It needs a SOLID set of blueprints to help build a house unlike any other… with secret passageways, massive stained glass windows, a spiral staircase, and all of the other characteristics that make up a unique and one-of-a-kind house. ⁣

Because your child is one-of-a-kind and unique.

It's no secret that it can be a challenge to get a diagnosis. A lot of well meaning professionals will suggest you 'just wait and see'. But don't be afraid to seek further advice and expert opinion. If you (or your child) are frustrated, don't be afraid to push for answers.
