If you have a phone, you’ll have some level of a phone addiction.

But, how do we manage this?

How much time are you willing to allow yourself to by glued to your device?

The ways of social media is changing, but it still does have all the same benefits that we all love. Connection, support, awareness are a few to name!

Creators, myself included, feel the pressure to pump out content multiple times a day. The more the better is the general idea. The algorithm loves it! The more posts = the more engagement = the more reward.

But the catch, the algorithm is finely tuned to know what every single person using it wants to see. It’s designed to hook us in, to keep us addicted.

AI write the captions you read, creates videos, images and edits and scripts reels. It’s a whole new world and in this moment I’ve decided to not “stay relevant” in it. I’ve never been in this for the followers or views, it’s always been the dedication to representation.

I still want to create content and contribute positivity into this community, a community that still has such high value to me. It’s my passion, my mission and a part of my life’s calling!

So! I’m introducing “BREES SOCIAL MEDIA SUNDAY”

You’ll find me here, with real content, my ideas, sharing real people’s stories, real article, real research, opportunities and content that’s been throughly though for weeks at a time 😉♥️

I’m getting my healthy morning rays ☀️

My skins loves it, my soul loves it, being outdoors and exposing my skin to the elements is part of how I heal!

I’m so lucky right not to have trails like this in my backyard!!

Finger swelling is one of those symptoms that can overlap with psoriasis, especially when inflammation reaches the joints (like in psoriatic arthritis). In the Philippines, the heat and humidity made mine flare more because of the warm, humid weather. It can increase fluid retention and make inflamed joints feel even more swollen and stiff. It’s interesting how climate can amplify what your body is already trying to tell you.

Today I want to share this beautiful artwork by Nowi. She created it to spread an important message: learning to accept, love and enjoy our bodies exactly as they are 💗✨

This piece speaks especially to the experience of living with psoriasis, an autoimmune skin condition that can be challenging, visible and deeply personal. It also reminds us that our skin does not define our worth, our beauty or our happiness.

Every body tells a story. Every mark, every difference, every detail is part of who we are. Bodies with art, bodies with strength, bodies that deserve love and acceptance!

For many people, including Nowi, psoriasis has been a journey of learning confidence, resilience and self love. Sharing that journey matters because seeing real people living fully and happily with “different” bodies helps others feel less alone 🤍

We are all special. We are all unique and there is power in showing ourselves as we are.

Oh my!

I’m literally jumping off the ceiling right now! You have so idea how happy I am with my body and how I’ve been able to manage my skin over the last few month.

I know what you’re thinking, but Bree… your skin is still flared up?

Yes, it is! But clear skin isn’t the only way of measuring improvement and health. Sometimes it’s just a lack of progression and a slow development. That’s exactly what I have right now!

I’m not itchy. My skins not bright red or angry. I’m peaceful. I’m able to work. My routine is sticking out and I’m not stressed. It’s utter bliss!

Finding peace in your psoriasis even through a flare is the best advice I can give to people suffering. It’s taken years and years to understand my body and to work with it but it is possible and it’s not a race.

This isn’t a journey someone can teach, it’s one that is unique for everyone. It’s practices and patience.

If you can find a way to calm your nervous system during a flare then the stress won’t get to it and make it worse. Accept yourself how you are at the present moment ❤️❤️

Skin conditions don’t always appear the same across different skin tones, yet historically much of dermatology education has focused on lighter skin.

Ethnodermatology is an area of research focused on improving how skin diseases are studied, taught and experienced across diverse communities.

Congratulations to Marissa Joseph on being named the inaugural AbbVie Chair in Ethnodermatology at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

Research like this helps ensure dermatology continues to evolve to better reflect the diversity of the patients it serves.

I’ve shared more information about this announcement in the link in my bio if you’d like to learn more about the initiative.

Just following doctors orders 💅🐑

1. Your body isn’t the enemy. Even when it hurts or flares, it’s still trying to protect you.

2. Rest is productive. Listening to your body is not laziness, it’s literally surviving!

3. Healing isn’t linear. Good days and bad days can exist in the same week!

4. Boundaries are necessary. Protecting your energy is part of taking care of yourself.

5. Empathy grows through pain. Living with a chronic illness teaches you compassion for others.

6. You are more than your diagnosis. Your condition is part of your life and not your identity!
