The Western NSW Eye Health Partnership recently joined more than 600 children from across NSW at the , taking eye health promotion to Country and creating opportunities for children, families, and community to yarn about the importance of looking after their eyes.

The Goodooga Games provided a wonderful opportunity for staff representing RDN Health to connect with community in a fun and culturally meaningful environment.

RDN Health’s Regional Implementation Project Officer, Tori Towney, said being able to take eye health promotion directly to Country, alongside community, is an important part of their work.

“The Goodooga Games provided a valuable opportunity to connect, yarn, learn and share while reminding us that eye health is an important part of overall health and wellbeing,” Tori said.

Recently, RDN Health team members were privileged to join Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leaders, ACCHOs, Aboriginal Medical Services, practitioners, Elders, government and sector partners for the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council’s (AH&MRC) National Indigenous Healthcare Forum, held on Gadigal Country in Sydney.

The Forum provided an opportunity to share what’s working on the ground and strengthen the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare.

RDN Chief Operating Officer Mike Edwards said RDN values its long-standing relationship with AH&MRC and the organisation’s expertise and cultural authority.

"One of our goals is to practise meaningful allyship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and our support for the delegation of Indigenous Medical Cadets and staff to learn from thought leaders and connect with colleagues at the AH&MRC’s National Indigenous Health Forum is an important step in achieving this goal,” Mike said.

The winners of the 2026 National NAIDOC Awards have been announced, with Christine Corby AM recognised as Female Elder of the Year and Aunty Pat Turner AO named NAIDOC Person of the Year.

The awards, held in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) over the weekend, celebrate the leadership, dedication and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Christine Corby AM is a proud Gamilaraay woman and highly respected Aboriginal health leader who has driven transformative change in north-west New South Wales for four decades.

Aunty Pat Turner AO, an Arrernte and Gurdanji woman and former lead convenor of the Coalition of Peaks, was recognised for her decades of advocacy and leadership, including her role in developing the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and championing the community-controlled sector.

The National Indigenous Times recently reported on Aboriginal children across Western NSW receiving earlier access to important ear, nose and throat (ENT) treatment through the Healthy Ears Better Hearing Better Listening program, which is administered by RDN Health and funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

The program delivered specialist ENT care to 91 children, including 51 who underwent surgery during four days at Dudley Private Hospital after some had waited almost two years.

Orange Aboriginal Medical Service led the initiative in partnership with RDN Health, local ENT specialists, Dudley Private Hospital, Ramsay Health Orange and the Western NSW Local Health District.

The Masterclass will be led by Associate Professor John Kramer, one of Australia’s leading experts in ADHD in General Practice. He is a highly respected clinician and educator who has been endorsed to initiate psychostimulant treatments for ADHD for over 30 years.
