This morning I attended Logan Police Station with the support of my Dad 💜
I had to stand there in just a pair of un**es while photographs were taken of my body😭Documenting the injuries, scars, grafts and the damage caused by the petrol that was poured over me and the fire that followed. Even seeing the damage the petrol caused to my tattoos is another reminder of what was taken from me.
The hardest part isn’t just seeing what happened to my skin every time I look at my body. It’s facing how much it has changed the way I see myself.
The fire damaged my body, but it also took pieces of my confidence and self-esteem with it.
I survived 🙌🏼 I’m grateful for that, but I still mourn the woman I used to be. The body I used to have. The confidence I carried. The free-spirited life I used to live 😭😭😭
I don’t know if I’ll ever truly get back to that person. Maybe healing isn’t about becoming who I was before, but learning to love and accept who I am now.
All I can do is keep trying, one day at a time. 💜
