A new market for us this Sunday — and this one comes with quite a history! 🌿

We’re covering a fair bit of ground again this weekend… although thankfully not quite as far as Toowoomba! 😄

On Saturday we’ll be back at Helensvale Farmers Market, and then on Sunday we’re trying somewhere completely new — the Witton Barracks Sunrise Market at Indooroopilly.

Indooroopilly is certainly a little closer to home for us, but what really caught my attention was the location.

Witton Barracks has quite a story behind it. During World War II, the site became the Australian headquarters of the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section, a joint Australian-American intelligence unit. It was also Australia’s primary interrogation centre for enemy prisoners of war. Some of the original brick cell blocks and exercise yard still remain today.

One particularly fascinating piece of its history is that intelligence staff there translated captured Japanese military documents, including the “Z Plan” in 1944, which revealed important Japanese defence strategies in the Pacific.

Today, the old military site has a very different purpose. It has been reimagined as a community and social enterprise hub — which makes it rather lovely that people now gather there for things like markets and community events.

So this weekend you’ll find us:

🌿 Saturday — Helensvale Farmers Market
🌅 Sunday — Witton Barracks Sunrise Market, Indooroopilly

There is always something exciting about trying a new market. New surroundings, new people to meet and, this time, a little Brisbane history to discover as well.

If you’re an Indooroopilly local — or you’ve been wondering where you can find us a little closer to Brisbane — come and say hello on Sunday. We'd love to meet you. 💗

Made with love. From our hearts to yours.

Why is low molecular Hyaluronic Acid different? 💧

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body and has an extraordinary ability to attract and hold moisture—but the size of the molecules matters.

High molecular weight HA has larger molecules that mainly sit on the surface of the skin, helping it feel smoother and reducing moisture loss.

Low molecular weight HA has much smaller molecules, allowing it to work more effectively within the upper layers of the skin. This helps support hydration and can leave dry or mature skin feeling softer, smoother and more comfortable.

Our Hyaluronic Acid Serum has become our best-selling product and the signature product of Luv Your Age.

It is:

💧 Made with low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid
💧 A 5% double-strength formulation
💧 Free from fragrance, unnecessary fillers and complicated ingredients
💧 Suitable for the face, neck, hands and other areas needing extra hydration
💧 Available in four sizes: 30ml, 50ml, 100ml and 200ml

We believe skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. Apply a small amount to slightly damp skin, then follow with a few drops of facial oil or a moisturiser that suits your skin.

You can scan the QR code in the image to visit our online store and learn more.

If you already use our Hyaluronic Acid Serum, we would love to hear what you think of it.

Apparently we’re not 25 anymore… 😂

3.30am. Crammed into our old van and heading up the range to try a new market in Toowoomba.

We knew it was going to be a long day.

We perhaps underestimated quite how long. 😂

We were really glad we went. We met some lovely people, tried something new and learned a lot.

But driving all the way to Toowoomba, doing the market and driving home again in one day was a bit ambitious.

And then we followed it up with Northey Street.

By that point, social media wasn't exactly at the top of our list. Sitting down was. 😂

So we've learned something for next time.

We'll head up after lunch on Friday, stay overnight and arrive at the market having had something resembling a night's sleep.

Running a small business seems to involve an extraordinary amount of experimenting.

Try something. Learn something. Change something. And occasionally admit that getting up at 3am wasn't your finest idea. 😂

But we're glad we tried.

Toowoomba, we'll be back — just hopefully a little more rested next time. ❤️

It’s around 3.30am and we’re off to Toowoomba - a new market and a new adventure. We’re looking forward to to meeting new people in this lovely country city.

🌿 A Change of Plans This Weekend! 🌿

We’re doing something a little different this Saturday — Luv Your Age is heading to Toowoomba! 💗

We’ve been given the opportunity to join the Toowoomba Farmers Market this Saturday, so we’re packing the car, setting the alarm VERY early 😴 and heading up the range to meet a whole new community.

We’re especially excited because this will be our first chance to experience the Toowoomba market ahead of our visit during the Carnival of Flowers in September. 🌸🌼

If you’re in the Toowoomba area, come and say hello to Lewis and me. We’ll have our Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Moringa products, natural oils, bracelets and more with us — and we always love having a chat.

Then on Sunday, we’ll be back on familiar ground at one of our regular favourites:

🚗 Saturday: Toowoomba Farmers Market — a brand-new adventure

🌿 Sunday: Northey Street Organic Farmers Market — back with our regular community.

It’s a busy weekend for Luv Your Age, but we’re looking forward to seeing where this new road takes us. 💗

Come and say hello if you spot us!

Well, this little video turned out to be much harder than I expected. ❤️

I decided I wanted to show you how I actually use our Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

Simple enough, I thought.

Set up the phone in the bathroom, wash my face and show you what I do.

About eight attempts later… 😂

What I hadn't expected was how vulnerable I would feel watching myself back on camera.

I'm 76. I wasn't wearing makeup. There was no flattering studio lighting, no clever setup and certainly no glamorous bathroom!

Just me, my skin, my little bathroom and a bottle of Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

And for a while, I really wasn't sure I wanted to share it.

We see so many beautiful, polished faces online that it's very easy to become critical of our own — particularly when a camera captures every angle and expression we normally wouldn't give a second thought.

But then I thought about what Luv Your Age actually means.

It doesn't mean pretending we don't age.

It doesn't mean we have to look 30 when we're 50, 60, 70 or beyond.

For me, skincare is about caring for the skin I'm in now.

So this is my very unglamorous, approximately three-minute, took-far-too-many-attempts bathroom video showing you how I actually use my Hyaluronic Acid Serum. 😊

No makeup. No perfect lighting. No pretending.

And yes, I felt a little vulnerable posting it.

But perhaps that's all the more reason to do it. ❤️

ONE MOMENT…

I didn't see the grey steel pole.

SCRAAAAAPE… 😳

Then show the damaged driver's door.

And in the second part:

Driver's door won't open.

There was only one way out…

“Well, this wasn't how I planned my day.” 😂

Funny how one ordinary moment can change all your plans.

This weekend will be a combination of selling and market research.
Saturday – Brookfield Country.

We had hoped to secure a stall at Brookfield Country Market and joined the waitlist in case another vendor cancelled. Unfortunately, the market remains fully booked.

Because Brookfield is close to home and reasonably priced, we will still visit the market on Saturday morning to assess it for ourselves.

We want to look at the customer demographic, foot traffic, stallholder mix and general atmosphere to determine whether it could be a good fit for us in the future.

Saturday afternoon is unavailable for business activities as we will be celebrating our grandson birthday over lunch.

Sunday – Eagle Farm Markets + Gold Coast Organic Market
Lewis will attend Eagle Farm Markets on his own on Sunday.

At the same time, I will travel to the Gold Coast to investigate the organic market there as a potential future selling opportunity.

One of the things we are learning is that high foot traffic alone does not necessarily make a market suitable for us. Eagle Farm and a number of Brisbane markets have a strong food and breakfast focus. While they attract plenty of people, many of those visitors do not appear to be our ideal health-conscious customer.

Our goal is therefore not simply to find more markets. It is to identify markets where the audience already has an interest in health, wellness, natural living and the type of products we offer.

What we are testing this weekend:

We will use Brookfield and the Gold Coast visit to assess:

* customer demographics and alignment with our target audience
the number and type of health, wellness and natural-product stalls
foot traffic and customer buying behaviour

* stall costs versus realistic sales potential

* whether customers are browsing, socialising/eating, or actively shopping

* opportunities for future bookings

The objective is to build a shortlist of markets based on customer fit and commercial potential, rather than attending markets simply because they are available.

You know that moment when you think, “We’ll just fix this one little thing…” 😂

Well… welcome to our latest small-business adventure!

When we first started Luv Your Age at the markets, we built a simple Square website. Did we really know what we were doing?

Not particularly. 😂

But we learnt as we went — and, to be fair, we're STILL learning!

As the business grew, we moved across to Shopify and built a completely new online store that we hoped would make shopping with us much easier.

Sounds simple enough, doesn't it?

Apparently not. 🤦‍♀️

We discovered that remnants of our old Square setup seemed to still be hanging around and causing confusion, so eventually we decided enough was enough.

The old Square site had to go completely.

⚠️ A quick but important note for our customers:

If you have one of our older Luv Your Age business cards, please don't use the QR code on it. You can either discard the old card or simply go directly to our website:

www.luvyourage.com

At our markets, we'll have our new QR code available for you to scan while we wait for our newly printed business cards to arrive.

And, of course, changing one QR code turned out to mean changing rather more than ONE thing… 😂

➡️ New QR code
➡️ New business cards
➡️ Banner changes
➡️ Brochure changes
➡️ Testing… testing… and MORE testing!

Hence the slightly frazzled woman in this picture. 😂

It has certainly been a steep learning curve, but hopefully we've now made everything much simpler and easier to use.

Most of all, we want to say a huge thank you to our lovely, loyal customers who have stuck with us, supported us, told us when something wasn't working and been incredibly patient while we've figured all of this out. ❤️

Small business really is a journey.

Sometimes you sell skincare…

…and sometimes you unexpectedly become a website troubleshooter, QR-code detective, graphic designer and reluctant IT department all at once. 😂

Hopefully we've finally got it sorted!

And if you happen to spot something we've missed…

Please be gentle with me. 😂❤️
