Enjoy the view from the bridge everyone!!

This Sunday TeamCFQ hits the pavement for Bridge to Brisbane!
In a few days we will be crossing the Bridge to Brisbane finish line in support of people living with cystic fibrosis.
The final week is the perfect time to share your fundraising page with friends, family and colleagues. Every donation helps us support people living with cystic fibrosis.
If you haven't signed up for Bridge to Brisbane this year and are still thinking about it, this is your sign.
You can walk, jog, run, skip, or dance your way to the finish line. Whatever you choose to do, it’s all for a great cause.
Make sure to have your Cystic Fibrosis Queensland merch ready to go for Sunday.

Day 20: Transplantation and Cystic Fibrosis

For some people with cystic fibrosis, transplantation becomes a critical part of care - especially when lung function severely declines. The most common procedure is a bilateral (double) lung transplant, but because CF is a systemic condition, other organs like the liver, kidney, or pancreas may also require transplantation.

In Australia in 2023:

12 people with CF received transplants
- 9 were bilateral lung transplants (3 in people under 30)
- 3 were liver or kidney transplants

54 people were evaluated for transplant
- 4 (7.4%) were waitlisted
- 4 (7.4%) were deferred

Lung transplant numbers have declined in recent years - both in Australia and globally - thanks to advances in CF treatments like CFTR modulators, which are helping people preserve lung function for longer.

Still, for those who do need transplantation, timely referral and lifelong support remain vital to improving outcomes.

Another done. 32k this year. Tough day in some unexpected heat. Very proud of winning the 18-19 Men’s. Just as good to see out there giving it a go with him. We are all a bit sore and sunburnt but super glad we did it. In awe of the 100 and Miler athletes today. To parkrun or not is the question now 🤔

We love seeing inspiring CF athletes like Rory pushing the boundaries 💪🌹https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww...
