“But I’ve always been like this.”
I hear this all the time in the clinic.
“I only go every few days, but that’s normal for me.”
“I’m always bloated by the afternoon.”
“I never really feel completely empty.”
“I’ve always had a sluggish bowel.”
And maybe it is your normal. But normal and optimal aren’t necessarily the same thing.
Bowel function is influenced by motility, hydration, fibre, movement, stress, pelvic floor function, medications, hormones and plenty more. Which is why I’m far more interested in understanding how your bowel is functioning than simply counting how many times you go each week.
And this is where colonic hydrotherapy fits in.
A colonic isn’t a cure for poor gut function, and I’ll never pretend it is. But it can provide a supported way to empty the colon using controlled warm water, while also opening up a much bigger conversation about your bowel habits, what you’re experiencing and what may need further attention.
For some clients, it’s the first time they’ve really stopped and thought about how their bowel has been functioning for years.
Your normal is worth questioning.
And sometimes, a colonic is where that conversation begins.
