WHAT IS THE PRINCIPLE WHEN WE ASK GOD FOR GOOD HEALTH?
We need to co-operate with God. We use simple natural remedies and God does the miracle.
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1. Thessalonians 5:23
Miracles and Natural Remedies
"God's miracles do not always bear the outward semblance of miracles. Often they are brought about in a way which looks like the natural course of events. When we pray for the sick, we also work for them. We answer our own prayers by using the remedies within our reach. Water, wisely applied, is a most powerful remedy. As it is used intelligently, favorable results are seen. God has given us intelligence, and He desires us to make the most of His health-giving blessings. We ask that God will give bread to the hungry; we are then to act as His helping hand in relieving hunger. We are to use every blessing God has placed within our reach..
Natural means, used in accordance with God's will, bring about supernatural results. We ask for a miracle, and the Lord directs the mind to some simple remedy. We ask to be kept from the pestilence that walketh in darkness ..with such power through the world; we are then to cooperate with God, observing the laws of health and life. Having done all that we possibly can, we are to keep asking in faith for health and strength. We are to eat that food which will preserve the health of the body.
God gives us no encouragement that He will do for us what we can do for ourselves. Natural laws are to be obeyed. We are not to fail of doing our part. God says to us, “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”
We cannot disregard the laws of nature without disregarding the laws of God. We cannot expect the Lord to work a miracle for us while we neglect the simple remedies He has provided for our use, which applied, will bring about a miraculous result. Therefore, pray, believe, and work (E.G.W.)
NEWSTART is an acronym for 8 LAWS OF HEALTH
📌NUTRITION - Proper nutrition is the foundation of good health and recovery. Proper nutrition involves more than just avoiding refined foods, sugar, and salt. It's about consciously choosing nutrient-rich foods to fuel our bodies. Include a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains in your diet. Opt for cold-pressed, extra virgin natural oils and prioritize fresh, minimally processed meals. Remember, the more humans manipulate food, the lower its nutritional value becomes. So, prioritize fresh and raw options. Try adding a fruit or vegetable salad to every meal for an extra nutritional boost.
📌EXERCISE -- Exercise is about engaging in physical activities that you enjoy. Find an activity that gets you moving and brings you joy.. Regular exercise stimulates the immune system, boosts the production of happiness hormones like serotonin, aids in weight and stress management, and improves sleep quality. Start small by incorporating movement into your daily routine, such as walking instead of driving short distances or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Additionally, exercise helps maintain muscle tone and strength Muscle tone and strength are lost without exertion, but exercise improves the health of body, mind, and spirit multiplying vitality and health.
📌WATER - Water is essential for human existence, constituting approximately 60% of our bodies. The conventional recommendation is to drink eight glasses of water per day. Opt for water and other healthy fluids over soft drinks and other acidic beverages. Soft drinks can be highly detrimental to our health due to their acidity. Adequate hydration promotes overall health, aids in digestion, and supports numerous bodily functions. Additionally, consider the benefits of hydrotherapy, such as alternating hot and cold showers to stimulate circulation and assist in detoxification.
📌 SUNSHINE- The sun is the established energy source ordained by God to sustain the cycle of life for plants and animals. It is abundantly available but aim for a balance between enjoying the benefits of sunshine and protecting yourself from harmful effects. Sufficient exposure to sunlight during early and later hours of the day is vital for the body’s metabolism, hormonal balance and as a source of vitamin D.
📌TEMPERANCE - Using good things moderately and avoiding the bad is obviously wise, yet often hard to practice. Temperance can be neither bought nor earned, but is rather an important gift of God as we submit daily to His will, a “fruit of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22, 23). Moderation in all things is a thread woven throughout the fabric of NEWSTART programs. Avoid indulgence in substances or behaviors that can harm your health, such as overeating, alcohol, smoking, or any addictive behavior. Practicing temperance prevents harmful consequences, and promotes overall well-being.
📌AIR - The body’s most essential resource is air. More important than food or water, proper breathing and pure air are fundamental to good health. Spending time in nature and taking deep breaths of fresh air can invigorate your body and mind.
📌REST - Restoration requires rest because sleep allows the body to repair and rejuvenate. Many types of rest are important for health but the sweetest rest follows labor. “Early to bed and early to rise” is a vital NEWSTART principle, and a healthy lifestyle makes this principle easier to maintain.
📌TRUST IN GOD -- Directly linked to physical health, trust in God is a gift leading to right choices. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6).
